Matias — Restaurant in Tavira

We had visited this restaurant last year and were impressed by the good prices with professional service. The same was true this time. There is an inside area as well as the partly open area where we chose to eat. It did not get busy on a Sunday night although the less formal bar /snack area at the front of the building was. My bream well presented with potatoes brocoli, cauliflower and a salad. Dressing is provided without asking. The chicken was also good. We had olives and bread to start and shared a chocolate mousse. This was a pleasant, hidden gem. I don't know if it's because of the strange world, right now and the lack of tourists, but, to me this seemed like the place the locals go. Maybe especially on Sundays? Close to a highway bridge and a roundabout. Nothing really, when it comes to view, interior or anything. But the atmosphere was so authentic and cool. Music from outside speakers. Locals having a nice time with their family and friends. Food, good wine, very cheap. Professional, but casual staff. A lot of them, actually. This will be my next go to...

The atmosphere, food, and service were generally satisfactory. However, I found it a bit disappointing that bread was placed on our table without being asked if we wanted it. We politely declined the bread, and the staff acknowledged this, yet it was left on the table. Unfortunately, we later noticed that the bread had still been included in the final bill.
