I visited this restaurant expecting it to be great, as per the reviews, but I was sadly disappointed with my experience!

I do have to admit that the food I ate was delicious.

The service was dreadful and the staff made my existence feel l like I was a hinderance to them.

I am a friendly, approachable and open-minded individual who rarely has bad experiences, but unfortunately I had one at this restaurant.

I was under the impression from the waiting staff, this was a tapas restaurant and you order a couple of dishes at a time, and order more dishes after eating the previous dishes - Hence I ordered two small dishes and was planning on ordering more, but the waiting staff never attended me after giving me the two small dishes and I sat for two hours without any waiting staff asking me if I wanted to order more food or what I thought of the food, which made me feel like a waste of space.

Additionally, I asked about vegan options as I am vegan and they were not very knowledgeable about their dishes and as I was vegan, they gave off a vibe that a vegan customer was an issue for them.

I was contemplating walking out of this restaurant without paying, as the staff literally would not notice if I had slipped away because I was apparently invisible - As a genuine individual, I was not going to stoop to the level of the staff who work within this establishment, so I took my own plates to the till, paid for the food and explained to them that I would not be returning to the restaurant EVER!

The staff's customer service skills dealing with my complaint was poor and I did not get a proper apology from them, and due to their poor service, I nearly starved as it was 9:30pm when I decided this restaurant was making me feel uncomfortable and by that time most of the other restaurants...

Bull's-eye. What a restaurant! On our long journey through Portugal, we have always eaten well, but Pausa put one more on it. Everything is just right here. In the evening, the tables and chairs are generously placed in front of the restaurant, so slowly after a warm day, life comes back to the street. You sit down comfortably, watch the hustle and bustle in a relaxed manner, and even the first glance at the extremely well-designed menu gives you an idea that Pause is something special. The selection of dishes is manageable, yet very diverse - which also applies to the wines. We start with Bruschetta "Feta & Roasted Tomatoes". Wow!!! I have never eaten something so good, appetizing and tasty. Here proved that the whole was more than the sum of its parts. And at the latest here it was clear that in the kitchen geniuses with extremely much devotion and ability worked, whose creations would inspire us also in the coming days still. We gave up our plan to choose a different restaurant every evening and instead came back again and again. Each new dish we chose was always a new revelation! Whether "Seared Tuna Loin", "Braised Pork Cheek with Porto", "Piri-Piri King Prawns", "Mango, Orange & Grilled Chicken Salad", "Grilled Chèvre, Apple, Walnuts & Raisins" or "Breaded Brie Chese with Jam" - everything was cleverly prepared and simply delicious. Of course, the service was also right and was on hand to advise in every case. We wish the team of Pausa all the best - we like to...

I went out on a limb and brought out of town guests here without having visited my self. For health reasons they have a very a restricted diet. Looking at the menu online I had hopes that they could find menu items they could eat. We arrived on a Friday night without a reservation but they gladly seated us. There were several items on the menu that they were able to eat and we went overboard and ordered to much food. It is rare that they are able to find such a variety of vegan food. The food did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and made with quality ingredients. This was one stop of many cities across Europe for our guests and they stated this was the best food by far they had on the trip. The food was absolutely fantastic! The service was stellar and the atmosphere made the evening perfect. We will return here many...

I personally would recommend making a reservation- but it’s not strictly necessary, you might just have to wait. The food was lovely, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere warm but also lively. Our favourites were the gazpacho, rich but simultaneously refreshing- and the seared tuna, which came with a soy sauce and an Asian-y mayo which were both delicious. The fish itself though was so flavourful and fresh. All priced very reasonably aswell- drinks + food for 3 came out to €60. Yum. Note- it’s Cash only, but there’s an ATM just next door.

Didn't meet expectations. Friendly and attentive staff, but disappointing experience: - Food (especially the mushroom risotto) - Ambience (outdoor seating on unused road, with lots of vehicle noise from passing traffice) - Value (all felt hungary afterwards despite having spent a fair amount on dinner). Prices are much increased compared to the google pictures, e.g. Seared Tuna Loin €10, Octopus with sweet potatoe chips €11
