I fully confirm the other reviews mentioning overcharging on the bill.
We ordered olives, two sopas de legumes, choco grelhado, and the peixe do dia. The waiter offered salmon or sea bream (dourada) as the options, and I chose the dourada. We also had sparkling mineral water and coffee. The price for prato do dia was clearly displayed as under €20.
As for the food: the sopa de legumes was tasteless, reheated in the microwave — one portion we left almost untouched. We even told the waiter that the soup was bad and from the microwave.
The choco was fine, the dourada was acceptable.
Then came the real problem: the bill. First, I was given a bill for €65, which already looked suspicious. The floor manager (or perhaps the young new owner) asked me to check it, and I immediately noticed oysters and several other dishes we never ordered. She apologized, claiming it was a “printing error” from the cash register. However, as the attached bill shows, receipts are tied to the table number, and there was no one seated near us who could have been confused with our table (No. 11).
We then received a “corrected” bill… but again I saw that instead of peixe do dia, they charged dourada separately at €25, not the menu price of under €20. I explained once again that the waiter had offered salmon and dourada as peixe do dia options, and I had chosen dourada. I insisted they apply the correct price. The manager/owner called the waiter, who confirmed my version. Only then, visibly angry and rude, did she return the difference.
This whole situation has every sign of being deliberate and dishonest. Absolutely unacceptable.
I have visited this restaurant many times in the past, when the older lady (presumably the original owner) was still in charge. We never experienced anything like this before, and were always satisfied. Unfortunately, the new management is clearly a change for the worse. Judging by other reviews, these practices of misleading and overcharging customers are here to stay.
Not recommended — I will avoid this place...
Read moreBe careful, terrible service…Service-woman tends to oversell which is i think some kind of rude = we order for lunch a mixed fish platter for 33 € and turned down bread as starter. She asked our wish for a another starter, we turned that down with a clear „no starter“. Then after bringing the orderd drinks she asked us again if we would like to start wirh glambs (Königsmuscheln). I thought that this is part of the „mixed fish platter“….. so we said „yes“. Then another waiter brought bread and dip to the table ( which you have to pay for ) and we denied again and told them once again that we do not want bread & dip. At this point i was not in good mood about this restaurant. By the way It turned out that the Königsmuscheln were damn good… and charged on the bill…. The price for bread and dip is not even noticeed in the...
Read moreBeautiful pepper steak cooked to perfection. I had loin and shrimp brochettes served on a bed of rice which were delicious. Accompaniments were chips and mixed vegetables all washed down with a decent house red. Service very friendly and efficient. Only bit of a niggle was we were served pates and olives with bread and biscuits at the start of the meal which were delicious but it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted these as we thought they were part of the service and not added to the bill (not sure if this is the norm as its our first visit to Portugal). We would have ordered them anyway and they were excellent value as was the rest of the bill. Would...
