Pizzaria Gio & Gabi — Restaurant in Tavira

What a great dining experience! I read the good Google reviews of this spot, but it almost doesn't do it justice. Well run restaurant with a friendly, helpful and efficient staff (international as well!). And the food is great! It comes out quickly and it's delicious. I had read about their Spaghetti Bolognese so I tried it, and it was perfect. Pasta cooked perfectly (other places on this strip have overcooked it), Bolognese sauce that was meaty but not acidy, so very enjoyable. A portion so big that I could not have eaten the whole thing and instead brought home half! The house red wine is great, very flavorful (from Alentejo)! And what a well run place. They seated every group that came along - rugby teams, a family with 3 young girls with coloring books, myself as a One, everyone! And it was full! I cannot recommend this place...

Just arrived at our accommodation and went for a walk to find some food. Unfortunately due to the coming storm most of the restaurants were closed. We saw this place was open but they only have 2 tables inside which were both occupied. They said we could sit outside so we took a look at the menu.

When he came out to take our order the waiter very politely said that we might not enjoy sitting outside as the rain and wind was going to get very bad (very good of them to warn us). We decided to order for takeaway to eat back in our room.

I got the carbonara pizza which was really good. Lovely dough. Lots of lovely toppings and really creamy sauce.

My wife got the salmon tagliatelle which was also really nice. Creamy sauce and lots of mushrooms and salmon.

Lovely service and lovely food....

We ordered 3 pizzas and one cheesey garlic bread last night to take away. We only had to wait 20 minutes. The pizzas were cooked to perfection in their pizza ovens. The toppings were all fresh ingredients and the thin base had a nice crispy underside. The cheesy garlic bread was unusual as it was folded in half which sandwiched the cheese and garlic oil in between. We all said it was a really nice idea and wouldn't hesitate to recommend ordering one to accompany one of their pizzas.
