Encosta do Rio — Restaurant in Terras de Bouro

For my first time in this in this amazing region of Portugal, my first and only dissatisfaction and disappointing moment was when I entered in this restaurant for the first time... the welcoming was cold as ice, not even 'good morning or good evening' and then comes the food... The lady just thrown up the dishes and drinks in the table (like we do with our chickens) and eat if you want! Nice and fresh from the microwave to your dish... finally in the end we ask for the bill and it was written by hand (no value tax added to it) just like 10 years ago and they don't accept cards, cash only! This is one of the main reason why my country had this huge economical problems over the past few years, all thanks to people like them! Pure profit and 0 contributions for the state. I just wish someone will do something some day to stop this scheme, parallel business. Bad communication with the clients and awful food. (Given 1 star because I think it's not...

I have read through some of the reviews and cannot understand the very bad ones. At least my experience was different than food tasting like vomit and I also had no food poisoning, I think that either was bad luck or just very unhappy customers.

But I would also not categorize this as a restaurant and I would not have expectations of an attentive service. It is more of a fast food place very close to a busy beach and busy area for locals. Parking will be horrible there and it will be busy during the regular lunch hours in summer. But all of that is no wonder.

Even though it is no wonder it is also not great. It is what it is, a quick bite you can enjoy without a shirt after a swim.

After a wonderful drive through the hills we parked up in a delightful location and thought we would enjoy a piece of cake and a coffee. We stumbled across this establishment which had the most delightful aspect. That was the highlight;it was downhill from there on. After being uncertain how to be served (which seemed to shared with the staff) we made order of food and then had to wait for an hour (perhaps more) for four sandwiches. Other tables had eaten a full meal + wine and ice cream by the time our coffees had arrived. In fact the only reason we received any food at all was because I went to ask twice where the food was.
