Restaurante Cávado — Restaurant in Terras de Bouro

This is my first review on google ever. My wife and I are from Florida and visited this restaurant when in Portugal. This place was amazing and 100% worth visiting. We were staying at a Pousada up the road and decided to try local cuisine instead of going to the lame pousada restaurant again. The waiter was able to speak clear English. My wife ordered the thinly sliced veal, and I ordered the bacalao (salted codfish - a local dish). The food was absolutely superb. We were able to get bread, a huge thing of wine, an appetizer, 2 entrees, and dessert, for 44 euros. Way better than I could have asked for and 100% worth the trip. If in the area you must go. The restaurant was full of locals...a telltale sign that the food is good. Would definitely return and recommend!! Pictured:...

Very nice & warm welcome, a lot of explanation about the wines (we even got to try the different Vinho Verde varieties) and great atmosphere. They had some great vegetarian options too - and believe me, this is really hard to find in the smaller cities/villages in Portugal. I had the vegetarian burger (which they served without a bun, which is a great plus for me as I do not like the typical bread with a hamburger) and my boyfriend had the veal steak which was absolute delicious, and served with potatoes and (lots of) greens. Local ao correr da estrada, esplanada muito agradável, interior espaçoso e bem decorado, staff super simpático e atendimento em tempo útil muito bom.

Bebida: Sangria de vinho tinto com frutos vermelhos. Óptimo sabor, geladinha e escorrega bem.

Pedi para entrada: Tábua Minhota composta por: Queijo da Serra, Salpicão caseiro, presunto caseiro e pão para acompanhar.

Sabores inconfundíveis dos produtos caseiros, carregados de paladar. O Salpicão devido a ser caseiro é um pouco mais rijo e como tal deveria ser fatiado fininho, tal como indicamos no local, mas en sabor está tudo excelente.

Para Jantar pedi: Bacalhau na Caçarola: Infelizmente as fotos não fazem jus ao sabor que parecemos ver ao ponto de ficarmos babados e a salivar de tão bom aspecto.

As batatas fritas acompanhadas com o molho e o "queimado" da travessa de barro, conferem-lhes um sabor muito bom. Já o Sr. principal, o Bacalhau, esse fiquei na dúvida se seria mesmo bacalhau ou paloco. Contudo, fosse o que fosse, não havia qualquer sabor, sal nem textura aparente a bacalhau. Infelizmente o bacalhau ficou quase todo no prato devido à falta de sabor, sal e falta de "lascas".

Sobremesas: Pudim de Abade Priscos (da região) muito bom, não é exatamente o original, mas para os doceiros conventuais não ficam desiludidos.

Semi-frio de frutos vermelhos, massa de bolo no meio com travo a canela, toping de morango à parte no mesmo prato. O sabor era agradável com textura suave.

No fim, o Staff e gerência toda 5 estrelas, uma atenção descomunal para com o cliente, foram todos amáveis e receberam todas as mesmas críticas aqui descritas, com a maior amabilidade e apreço para que possam melhorar todos os dias.
