O Belga — Restaurant in Torres Vedras

We recently moved to Santa Cruz from Virginia (the DC suburbs). As our children were growing up, I would routinely make waffles from scratch with fresh berries and freshly whipped heavy cream along with powdered sugar or Canadian maple syrup. So I have very high standards for what to expect from a good waffle and I am almost always disappointed. We stopped at O Belga (my wife and me) and she ordered a crepe with Nutella and fresh strawberries while I ordered a waffle with fresh strawberries and Chantilly cream. Both were delicious. We have been back many times since and definitely will be in the future. With waffles this delicious, why go to the trouble of making them at home? Since moving here, we’ve quickly identified our “go-to” spots, whether it’s a butcher, a vegetable vendor, a supermarket, a fishmonger or a bakery. O Belga is without a doubt our spot for waffles (with Chantilly cream, strawberries and blueberries). I’d never had waffles with basil leaves but I have now become so accustomed to that delicious flavor combination that it seems that is the only way you should eat them. We went today to this O Belga place, the facilities are nice though not the woman at the cashier when we requested the invoice, in a rude way she just replied: "you should have asked before paying, I can't do it anymore " I was very upset but decided to save my energy and not make a fuzz about this asking for the "Libro de Reclamaçòes" or asking for the manager or owner. In many other places first the bill is paid and then the invoice is requested, she was the one who should have asked. She even lied saying she had asked which she didn't. The chicken baguette, the crepes and the chocolate cake were good but wouldn't recommend at all the "oat pancakes", basically no flavor whatsoever, they melted in the mouth as if they were raw.
