O Marquês — Restaurant in Viana do Castelo

Last year we finished the first part of our Camino de Santiago in Viana and ate at O Marquês during our stay. This year we came back to Viana to start the second stage of our walk, and so visited O Marquês again. This is a lovely locals' restaurant with good food and excellent service, and at incredible value for the lunch menu. O Marquês is a perfect place for us and we very much recommend it.

We had a really good lunch at O Marquês where the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was just right (and very good value). Overrated. The wait was not long, and service was semi-fast on seating but then they seem to forget the order in which they seat you and start serving other tables first. The food was so-so at best. The fries had no salt, the cod was dry and tasteless. The cabrito seemed to be ok (if we ignore the saltless potatoes there too). We opted for NO soup NOR coffee, it also appears that we were charged extra? I don't know, maybe becaUse they saw we were tourists, but the bill for 2 dishes of the day with a couple bread rolls and ONE small water was 32€ ?!? You'd better verify prices before you order... don't be silly like me. It gets pretty windy if you sit outside, so the food gets cold very quickly. Absolutely do...
