Beach Bar Burgau — Restaurant in Vila do Bispo

I almost never leave a negative review. This is really only reserved for the worst, rudest and most unfriendly places. Today was actually the second bad experience at this same snack bar, although much worse today. It looks like a decent place right on the beach, but as soon as our food arrived we were bombarded by flies. As I tried to escape inside with my food an old angry German waitress started screaming at me to wear my mask. Not a friendly reminder to put it on, not a please would you put it on, no apologies for the inconvenience of needing to relocate, no please let me help you. Just straight to yelling at me for forgetting to wear a mask. I was not able to put my mask on due to the fact I was holding all the food trying to get inside away from the flies. It wasn't on purpose, but my hands were full and unable to do so (btw she could have helped instead if yelling). I only had to walk a few meters to get to the table inside, no other guests were sitting inside. I understand and always wear a mask, just in this situation we were relocating from one seat outside on the terrace to inside. No mask is required at the table inside or the table on the terrace. So just needed to wear it for the short distances to relocate within the snack bar. Under normal circumstances I am fine with it, I am simply disgusted by flies sitting on my food and was in a rush. If she asked in a friendly way I would not have minded, but I do not like being yelled at by a waitress, it is terrible manners regardless. The odd thing is that she chased me inside and continued to argue with me and shouting at me. We were joined by another waiter who also started arguing with me about how it is the last and I could have gotten a fine. So they completely lost their minds just because I possibly could have gotten a ticket for walking 5 meters without a mask from one table to the next. I asked them to please leave me alone as I was seated and ready to finally eat. After needing to have the last word, rolling her eyes and making a scene they finally left me and my family alone.

Ironically I don't know what was worse, the horrible flies attacking our food or rude wait staff hovering over us and yelling at us.

Tried to pop in for drinks, told no space yet empty stools at the bar. Asked if we could order a take away coffee, was told yes. My partner ordered two coffees and was given them full to the brim, no lids (I need a lid due to my disability it stops me from burning myself, I was already struggling not having a seat), he asked for a lid to be told no, because they don't want plastic in the sea, how ever on the take away cups it states they contain plastic, so present the same risk? Silly. Why not just have lids? Very ableist. The whole place and atmosphere just seemed a bit odd to be honest, we went and stood on the beach to watch our children play and noticed outside seating had been dried and given to people so maybe it just depends who you are who you know in this place? Situated right on the Burgau Beach, with stunning views, this restaurant certainly caught our attention as we strolled on the beach. We didn't have a booking but they found room for us anyway during a busy lunch service. We ordered drinks and they arrived inside 3 minutes (I mention this as it's so rare these days to get fast service) The food was absolutely delicious, almost certainly the best food we've had in Portugal, we had the mussels in white wine and garlic for starters and the tiger prawns for main. From the wait staff to the kitchen everyone was at the top of their game. You could tell these guys are professionals and love what they are doing. Would give them 6 stars if I could....
