Esquina — Restaurant in Vila do Bispo

In my view, the ratings so far do not reflect the actual quality and price. We had a reservation for 8 people and were a totally disappointed. The ambience is good, but the seating is a bit cramped and the room temperature was much too high. All windows were closed, the air conditioning was switched off. The service was a bit complicated.

For dinner: The sardine pate was out of he tin (and was served with tin on the table). The fried calamari tasted like thawed from Bofrost, the tuna steak floated in the fat.

We booked a table for 6 and was absolutely astonished by how good the food was here. The Cataplana has to be the best in the Algarve, the Peri-Peri chicken is the tastiest that we have had over the course of our 3 week visit to the area, the children's chicken meal is something totally different to all others that we have tried.. Reading previous reviews of poor quality/frozen food we would totally disagree... The food can be seen being prepared and cooked and is worth the price paid.. Thank you George family...

It is 8 years since I lasted visited, but this place is still amazing. George and his family are so bubbly, friendly and welcoming! And the food is all very tasty. We had a selection of starters, Portuguese steak/prawn pasta/steak with green peppercorns/tuna steak/duck between us and every dish was equally delicious and cooked to our preferences (medium rare for the steaks) to perfection.
