This was my first time here. The place is great, there’s a quiet and comfortable vibe, and you can find tables both inside and outside. The waiters are really nice and polite, but most important they’re professional. Specifically, the guy with dark curly hair and a moustache, he was really welcoming and fun. We tried two charcuterie boards, both were delicious. The shrimp’s rice was really good, creamy and was cooked perfectly. We also tried some smash burgers: the meat wasn’t dry and the bread was great, maybe changing something in the sauce would’ve made this dish perfect as well. Just one negative critique: the wait for the dishes, however if you spend this time having some sangria and someone to chat with, the wait isn’t even that bad. This place is different from anything else in the city. A gastropub where people from all ages gather to enjoy a relaxed yet inspiring environment. The decoration plays a big part in this. You can find a very bold wine list here, that challenges you to try different things other than the well know classics in the Douro region. Don’t worry, there’s also options for a lower budget. Cocktail-wise this is the best place in town, and I also recommend the gin-tonics and sangrias if that’s what you’re into. Food-wise you can find a variety of finger food and snacks, burgers, tacos, combined with some beefier options if you’d like something heavier. Check with the staff for dessert, they’re worth a try. During the past four months this restaurant has been the home for 14 Erasmus students from around the world. The staff are incredibly kind and always attentive and happy to provide exceptional service. The food here is some of the best in Vila Real. You can go for tapas, pasta, burgers, or a delicious steak big enough to share. The cheese boards are wonderful, and the new sausage plate is fantastic. Dois Cinco Nove is perfect to grab drinks with friends, they have one of the best beer and wine list’s and a fully stocked bar.
