Pastelaria Casa Lapão — Restaurant in Vila Real

It's one of the go to places on a visit to Vila Real, they sell traditional local pastry as well as other types which all present very specific portuguese taste. I have mixed feelings about this cafe, because it feels like the way they serve you depends on their mood. Love their toast, especially a little portion of jam that goes with it, but sometimes it can be too dry. Not a fan of an eggy taste of their pastries, but I like their originality. One time I bought some tarts for a take out and they served them in a paper bag, little did I know that all the cream would be all over the bag in literally 5min, the desserts were wasted, wasn't very happy with this kind of service...

Ao fazer a N2 parámos nessa pastelaria por recomendação, pedimos 2 miniaturas de cristas de galo e chocolate quente, ao provarmos verificamos que o chocolate de quente não tinha nada, a roçar o frio mesmo e o pior foi ao provar sentir o picante, fui ao balcão ao que o funcionário me respondeu que deitou um pouco de pimenta, achei estranho pois quando pedi não me tinha sido dada essa informação e para mim não é normal vir um chocolate quente (frio) e com picante, devolvi as bebidas e pedi uma água. Ao pedir a conta o funcionário informa que são 8.10 pois cobrou o chocolate quente porque pedi e eu é que não gostei, o meu marido alérgico a pimenta o funcionário insiste que nós é que devíamos ter informado sobre a alergia sendo que nem carta nem indicação que o mesmo levava pimenta. Veio o dono ou chefe nem sei e teve a "gentileza" de oferecer os chocolates quentes(provamos, não bebemos porque eram realmente intragaveis), surpresa das surpresas nem o próprio patrão ou chefe sabia que o chocolate quente levava pimenta. Ao funcionário um conselho, não seja arrogante e se quer fazer cocktails vá trabalhar para um bar porque uma pastelaria certamente não será o melhor sitio para...

Lapão has consistently raised their prices up to a point where a local cannot afford a slice of their cake. I find it outrageous that a slice of chocolate cake costs 3.50€ in a country with a minimum salary of 700€. It’s just a different level of pricey, even though they’ve always been one of the priciest in town. Too bad one of our best pastry shops is no longer...
