Cacimbo — Restaurant in Viseu

We (Singaporean couple) stumbled upon this restaurant quite by chance and, unknowingly, arrived just before their opening at 7PM. The restaurant manager, with great hospitality, kindly invited us in early and lit up the place for us. WOW—what a wonderful find!

This elegantly set-up restaurant clearly caters primarily to local Portuguese diners; within 10 minutes of opening, it was full. We were the only foreigners and unfamiliar with the menu, so we gladly followed the manager’s recommendations—and we were not disappointed.

The tender, succulent steak, a house specialty, is an absolute must-try. The roast pork ribs come equally highly recommended as well. Their suckling pig was sold out. Their own B&M wines, produced from their private vineyards in Dao, are a delight—fresh, ruby-colored, with soft to medium tannins and a hint of cherry and strawberry that perfectly caters to our palate.

If you’re looking for where the locals dine for excellent food, this is the place. Prices are more than reasonable, and the service is impeccable. What more could you ask for?

Great Churrascaria, busy with locals and brisk takeaway from front of house. Fantastic suckling pig, very crispy and a very nice veal steak in pepper sauce paired with recommended Vinho Tinto from the Dao. Até tinha uma boa impressão do take-away e da simpatia das pessoas nesse departamento. uma coisa totalmente diferente é fazer uma refeição no restaurante, remodelado, da churrasqueira. Jantei lá hoje, no primeiro piso. Atendimento pior do que péssimo, e não foi uma ou duas pessoas, foram três. A primeira, coloca as entradas em cima de mesa enquanto nos sentávamos e nem uma nem duas, não diz nada. A segunda veio recolher o pedido e foi o menos simpática possível. A mesma pessoa das entradas trouxe os pratos, um de cada vez, e nem um bom apetite ou fosse o que fosse. Para cúmulo, no pagamento ao balcão, uma terceira pessoa, após o pagamento, tira o talão de pagamento do multibanco, anexa o recibo e, mais uma vez, tal como a primeira pessoa, nem uma nem duas. Não houve um "boa noite", um "bom apetite", um mero "obrigado", nada! Sei que o estabelecimento abriu há pouco tempo, depois de totalmente remodelado devido a incêndio. Pena não terem remodelado também os funcionários e a sua capacidade para serem simpáticos, educados e minimamente atenciosos para os clientes. Mau demais!
