When I moved to Viseu, this was my go-to place — our little nest. We used to go there religiously every Tuesday to laugh, share stories, and enjoy some food. Then, for all those vague reasons life throws at us, we drifted away… until now.

Coming back to Palace felt like coming home. Vanessa still welcomes us with the same warm smile, and in the kitchen, Chef Luís Almeida, along with his loyal right-hand man Alex, continues to surprise us.

The menu is wide-ranging, creative, and clever — from the simplest tapas to more elaborate dishes full of textures, aromas, and unexpected combinations. It’s the kind of place you can return to over and over again, and still feel like there’s always something new to discover. A dish that pairs with another, a flavour that changes everything.

Our all-time favourites are the steak tartare (which might not be on the menu, but is always available), the oxtail, the “ovos rotos”, and of course, the eternal Serra cheese puff pastry.

The wine list complements the experience with equal care — full of unexpected, thoughtful choices for every taste.

More than just a restaurant, Palace is a place where we truly feel at home. Thank you, Vanessa. Thank you, Luís. It’s so...

Dinner for 3, cheese, smoked ham, olives, butter and bread…as appetisers (they charge 2€ for 2 slices of bread per person, as we repeated 12€!) As main we took them suggestion, 6 Tapas to share plus some french fries as side dish and it was fine, 1 desert cheesecake (don’t expect the old fashioned cheesecake), 1 water, and 1 bottle of wine (only the wines aren’t overpriced)

I had the chance to give my opinion in person to the waitress, ceviche and pica pau flavourless, they can improve it, foie gras mini cornetos outstanding!

Overpriced...

For a couple we ordered 2 starters, 1 main dish and dessert. The best dish was definitely the carabineiro, perfectly cooked and full of flavor, but the portion was too small. For dessert, we went with the staff’s recommendation of tiramisu, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet our expectations.
