Prema — Restaurant in Viseu

I have been in Viseu for the past week and have been so amazed by Prema that I’ve been going there for lunch pretty much everyday.

This small vegan restaurant is an absolute gem of vegan cuisine. In addition to their permanent menu, everyday they have a different dish, which very often is a vegan version of a traditional Portuguese dish, which makes going there a new experience everyday. These are the dishes I grew up with, and it’s so good to be able to have the same amazing taste, with none of the cruelty. And Prema does them so well. I have yet to have anything there that I did not love.

Plus, their permanent menu includes two vegan Francesinhas, which I have a big soft spot for. I try every vegan francesinha I find (I’ve already tried 3 different ones in Viseu alone) and their Premium Francesinha has probably the best filling I’ve had so far, plus it’s topped with a vegan fried egg which is the loveliest touch!

They also have a phenomenal selection of snacks that are perfect to start your meal with. The croquettes and pasties are lovely. I have at least one every time I go, and take some home too.

Finally, I must highlight the amazing home-made cakes and desserts they have. The banana bread with blueberries specifically is probably the best banana bread I’ve ever had. Perfectly moist and not too sweet.

Prema has wonderful very affordable food and very friendly staff. If you ever find yourself in Viseu, you absolutely must visit Prema. There isn’t anywhere else I’d recommend more.

We cant recommend this place enough, absolutely loved it. A real treat.

We drove 30 minutes to come here as it can be very difficult to find tasty food as a vegan in more rural areas. It was well worth the drive.

100% vegan menu and plenty of options including many traditional Portuguese dishes.

To top it off the owners were such great hosts and we really enjoyed talking with them.

If you are in the area this is a must. Hope to come...
