This is the most iconic place to eat in Poiana Brasov. I know it for more than 30 years and witness the services during different ownerships. Visited twice in a week in December 2023. Lunch service during weekdays was fast however I find it very very very expensive for the offering. Tasty bean soup, unbalanced cheese and cream corn polenta was my choice. We were surprised being given a whole bread but hey, it came at price. Super expensive price. Same as the snaps (tuica de gutuie) 10€ for 40ml. Yes, i asked for it.

The weekend dinner was a mega failure. We booked in advance. Table for 16. We were received by host with traditional music band, carols, snaps and ham; all nice, however ham was un salty while service was rather ad-hoc. Nice caroling choir from students at local university. No introduction nor story telling about the place. The dinner started with long wait time at a table that had chairs bumping into chairs from near by tables. the waiter and supervisor pushed us towards sharing platter for starters. Easy for kitchen but not enough for us. Lots of bread, expensive snaps and imbalance platters. While we order mains, we were told that waiting time was 50min for a fried chicken to share. I had a tasty venison stew just to realize that 90% of it was mushrooms. The red wine we try on manager recommendation was an imbalanced romanian merlot (dradara never tried before) at more than 100€ per bottle. 1 hour into our dinner guests arrived at the table near us; a group of 10 teenagers; they started their conversation loudly using trivial words, breaking glasses and ruining the overall atmosphere in restaurant (Picture this: we had local band music and carols). We asked for manager to assist and we were actually offered to be moved at different table. We were asked not the new comers. At no point the manager or waiters intervened to keep atmosphere as it previously was. We couldn’t even have a normal conversation at our table due to noise. We did not engage at all with neighbor tables. As a result we lost appetite and left the restaurant with unfinished food and drinks. We chose this icon place for Saturday night dinner as it had a special meaning for us. Again, a total failure. The service was pushy old style trying to recommend expensive selection for food and drinks. I feel sad to experience such dinner as this is a place closed to my heart which is ruined by the service under...

I liked it, the reviews confirm it. The ambiance, the food all are great. Professional waitstaff, but lacking real hospitality training. Despite these, I would definitely dine here again because of the atmosphere. Now what I didn't like :)) It's not that a big of a nuisance but hopefully someone from management will read this: I asked if I could charge my phone and was told there is only one power outlet on the ground floor and I am welcomed to use that. One other waiter bitched on the waiter that approved me that he shouldn't offer that, because he cannot take the responsibility if it's stolen. Solution: tell the client that in case of phone being stolen they cannot take responsibility, so the client knows beforehand. Put some God damn separators (mini walls) between piss stalls in the men's bathroom. That should be a law all over the country. Those stalls are way too close from one another. Also, coat hangers should be in the bathroom waiting area too (not only inside sink area -which is a great idea too, well thought out). Out of 2 soap dispensers in the sink area, one was filled with hand sanitizer. FYI the soap IS a sanitizer by itself, no need to reconfigure a soap dispenser into a sanitizer dispenser. The "sanitizer" was pushed during COVID panic where SOAP wasn't readily available. Bathrooms should have stayed the same. L.E.

One of the most important and favorite restaurant of all times, I spent lots of great memories there from my childhood to the grown up. The owner, Viorel was the trademark of that establishment, until he decided to give his baby to some strangers....Everything there is going down the drain since...starting with the waiters ( old waiters were the best and everyone had his own wonderful charisma) and including the food. The new owner has changed the menu , and not only...the quality of the food nowis execrable . I keep lying to myself that it’s not true what I had in mind regarding the food and everything , but every time that I step into the location, I leave with the sour taste in my mouth and with the heart broken.Let me share with u my last experience there: I always order there “fripturã haiduceascã”...besides the fact they’ve changed the meat combination from the recipes, I order something else ..( muschiulet de porc) . From some reasons, without asking me or telling me that they’re selling at ( grams) , they’ve brought me 1 kg of meet slapped on the Barbecue that could feed 4 hungry people . I wouldn’t mind bigger portions, but it was clearly with the intent to spike my final bill. When asked, the waiter told me with a nasty attitude that I asked that , like it was my fault that I order that. Final words: Viorel did a BIG mistake when transfer the ownership to this guys ...they took his name and everything he build trough the years and flush it to the...
