Splendid experience (we also had splendid weather). It's a fine dining place with exclusive views over the neva and it's iconic structures like the Hermitage. The food is not particularly hyped up like in the poshy centrical restaurants. And is still within the normal budget. It features like in many other restaurants in the city, a visual menu. So that you know what is what, and feel more confident at ordering specially when you don't speak a word of russian or don't know anything about the local gastronomy. Food is elaborate and tasty (as long as you know what you are ordering, right? Some don't...) My salad was a bit non-sensical because it was comprised of beetroot with strawberries and mango (both excellent taste). And quite frankly, had it been just fruit, it'd had been much better. That beetroot had nothing to do there, it's like that guy that hasn't been invited to the party, on the whole, it tasted nice, but, could have been nicer. The duck was just spectacular, super interesting sauce they must have added smoked salt (or maybe smoked paprika) or something to the berry sauce that came along. Sadly not enough duck, XD! Should have ordered two. Regarding the deserts, I can't have an opinion because I wanted the tart but it'd take like 15 min and we had to leave so I went for sorbet ice-cream. The tea menu is overwhelming, you definitely need some time to decide yourself. The...
Read moreGreat place and perfect panoramic views of the city. The place is like a fusion between Russian, Georgian and modern cuisine and offers some interesting dishes. Although it’s huge and may seem crowded at times, the staff seems well trained. The waitress was friendly and recommended several dishes that Were tasty, keeping in mind the portion size. She was really genuinely pleased I liked what she recommended! I had the fried eggplant salad with paprika, purple onions, cilantro and cream cheese. The second dish was a hot starter that was basically local cheese with tomatoes, paprika and spinach oven-baked in a small pan. If you’re coming with 3 or more people, I suggest reserving a table just to make sure. I also recommend getting a platter with local grilled and fried fish with dips as a starter - it...
Read moreExcellent place, great food, awesome view! Seeing where it is situated and the size of this restaurant we have feared that the quality of food will be average. But the restaurant had completely overpassed our expectations.
The food was great, a fusion between Russian, Georgian and European, all perfectly fresh and well executed. The place is very big, but full of cozy corners and terrasses. The river view terrasse (on one side of the restaurant) is the best in my opinion. To be able to have a table there the restaurant needs a deposit of 5000 rub if you wish to book it in advance, or simply the minimum bill should be 5000 rub. Which is reasonable.
I strongly recommend...
