Saperavi Cafe — Restaurant in Basmanny District

Enjoyable atmosphere, classy and elegant interiors, however the sofa where we have been sitting was extremely uncomfortable and the table was not stable, as it has been constantly shaking the time of our dinner. No English speaking staff nor an English menu, not to talk about the fact that they run out of Khinkali, something inconceivable to me in a Georgian restaurant. Quite decent but overpriced food, poor quantities and debatable quality of some of the ingredients, especially in the Khachapuri. What astonished us the most was how expensive this place revealed to be, especially compared to way better Georgian restaurants we tried in Moscow over the years. Whether we are always willing to pay for qualitative culinary experiences, 50€ for two shashlik, a khachapuri, a glass of wine and an overpriced Georgian water sound like legalised crime to me; just run away from this restaurant as soon as you run into it, there are so many better options in Moscow and right around the corner that it would be such a pity to spoil your stay in Moscow with their poor and overpriced food. In conclusion it turned out to be a very disappointing dinner and I wouldn’t recommend any of you to have a meal here. It was probably the worst Georgian restaurant we have ever tried in Moscow, a city that claims to serve the best Georgian food in the world, which is often the case except for this restaurant which isn’t worth a dime. Ходили много раз семьёй и было все отлично. На днях пришли вдвоем с моим молодым человеком и узнали это место по-новому. Долго сидели в ожидании меню, хотя занято столов было всего 3. Людей, которые пришли позже нас усадили и начали обслуживать гораздо быстрее. У нас же не хватило терпения и мы сами пошли и взяли меню. Заказ сделали и ждали еду около часа, если не больше, хотя раньше хачапури приносили быстрее.. забавно, но люди, пришедшие позже нас ушли раньше, чем нам принесли хачапури. Возможно их позиции готовились быстрее, хотя выпечка и мясо присутствовали (да. Нам было нечего делать и мы смотрели вокруг). В какой-то момент официант подошёл и сказал, что ещё 2-3 минутки и все будет готово. После этих слов блюда несли ещё минут 20-25. Наконец наши 2 хачапури были на столе. Было приятно обнаружить жидкий склизкий белок на затвердевшем сыре (который в этот раз был гораздо полезнее, чем обычно). Тесто прилипшее к бумаге на которой принесли еду тоже было приятно отрывать. Осле того как мы дели - ждать счёт пришлось тоже около 30 минут. Может чуть меньше. Просили принести счёт 3 раза. Хочу упомянуть, что занято было все ещё меньше половины столов, не знаю как на другом этаже по кол-ву людей было... Когда официант подошёл и мы начали расплачиваться картой - он убежал с терминалом к другом столу... Не уверена, но смею предположить что так к нас отнеслись из-за внешности (хоть нам за 20+ лет, но некоторые люди дают 15-16 лет). Так я предполагаю, ибо до этого мы ходили туда с нашими родителями праздновать их дни рождения и всегда все было на уровне. Может быть ошибаюсь и попали на не самый удачный день. Great cuisine. The format, interior and service are that of a cafe. But cuisine is superb, restaurant grade quality here. Most if the dishes are as good as or better than you get in any other Georgian resto in Moscow. Perfectly cozy place for 1 on 1 meetings, family dinner with kids, or big table group party get together. Though table spacing is precariously close to each other, as is usual for smaller cafes.
