Moscow Choral Synagogue — Attraction in Basmanny District

A very memorable Beit Knesset experience! Good prices for Shabbat seuda (per seuda!) and Sukka spots! Words couldn't tell! Good business practices! Profiling is quite unique there, even unseen elsewhere "okhrana", just like in the good old times! They even help you out if you daven too much or study there when it's getting late literally carrying you in their arms! Truly careful handling of a Jew! I was impressed! Otherwise a very memorable experience. Unfortunately can't stay late there if you're not on a white list or close to the administration. Also an unexpected, but memorable address to the small community I was surprised to find included by the head of the government of Russia on Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur wishing to continue to add up to the country's "cultural richness" or something. "Хоралка", любовно называют прихожане, Синагогу на Спасоглинещевском переулке, недалеко от м. Китай-Город. Здесь молятся иудеи-ортодоксы, входящее в Федерацию еврейских региональных общин России (КЕРОР). Одна из старейших синагог России, воздвигнутая в конце позапрошлого века, Возглавляет Хоральную синагогу Адольф Саломнович Шаевич - Главный равинн России по версии КЕРОР, Хоралка является объектом культурного наследия и в туристических маршрутах важная веха, В последнее время и еврейская молодёжь на духовные ценности предков...

Здание потрясающей архитектуры в неоклассическом стиле с куполом. Строилось в 1887-1891 годах. Через год после начала строительство было приостановлено, наличие купола не согласовал обер-прокурор Святейшего Синода. Купол разобрали, но открыть синагогу не смогли. На некоторое время еврейской общине было даже предписано передать здание и в нем разместилось в благотворительное заведение. Затем был апрельский манифест 1905 года, и всего через год синагога была открыта и была она с куполом. Больше она никогда не закрывалась. Действительно, очень интересная история. Внутреннее убранство ослепительно красиво, много золота, богатый орнамент, витражи, ливанские кедры на мозаике, прекрасное оформленные балконы-галереи. И, конечно, очень много света. Увидеть эту красоту не сложно. Лучше подойти в будний дни около 17 часов и вам разрешат подняться на балконы-галереи. Если в это время будет молитва, вам подскажут в какое конкретное время...
