Soy Asian Table — Restaurant in Kimihurura

It has only gone through a soft launch. However first impressions were not all that great. The lady manager was tending towards arrogant. A few years back there were not many restaurants with good service in Kigali but now things have changed, we tend to expect very good friendly, smiling service at any upmarket restaurant in Kigali.

Her overall interaction made us feel like she was doing us a favor.

The owners seemed to be nice and did smile at us but did not look involved enough to come and ask for a feedback. Considering that a soft launch is done for feedback and improvements.

The soup dumplings were suggested to us as their house speciality. The cover was too thick and it was a below mediocre affair. The dishes came out at their own pace like 10 mins apart. The first main course dish on table and the last dish on table from the same order was 30 mins apart. The cook covers up for his lack of skill by using over powering flavours. This just leaves you with similar tastes for all the dishes. The ambience is the only reason am giving 4 stars and my own hesitation to give a first review as a 3 star review. I would give 5 star for ambience alone. Service is below 3 and food 3 considering that the pricing is up market.

Went there last night and had the so called, Mongolian Beef. This beef tasted like it was boiled in water with vegetables. The food didn’t even taste the way it was supposed to taste. I’ve had Mongolian beef from all around the world, and this is the worst one yet. How can you mess this up?

Don’t take my word for it. Google Mongolian beef. Look at pictures of it online and look at the picture I posted. You can’t take an internationally known dish, then recreate the ingredients.Even if you do change the ingredients, it shouldn’t taste like boiled beef and veggies. The dish was horrible. I ate (half of it) because I was hungry, not because it was good.

Secondly, when I walked in all the staff was in the back sitting down enjoying the FREE money the owner is paying them for doing NO work. Nobody greeted me. I sat myself down.

The staff here, should be replaced. The customer service is TRASH. They don’t care about customers, only your money after you order. The laziest staff in Rwanda are at this...

A great place to dine at ,well laid out and spacious, the decor was cool ,the bar is well represented and looks lively , the layout of the restaurant with its center lawns gives it a great feel The service was good with well mannered staff. We went as a group and the food we ordered was generally excellent , the Dimsums ,were outstanding , the main courses ordered were good and included ,veg fried rice ,chicken fried rice and a non veg noodle as also a chicken , a beef & a prawn main course . The only let down was the pork sizzler where unfortunately the meat served was not fresh Must say the staff graciously did take it back Could have been an unusual aberration though . All in all an excellent meal ,would have rated it five stars but have given it a,four star rating because of the slip up on the pork meat . Surely will visit...
