I visited Boho Restaurant in Kimihurura yesterday and had a really good experience. Drove from Kicukiro, it took about 25 minutes, and the route was pretty straightforward via KN 5 Ave to KN 3 Ave, then up into Kimihurura. There’s parking space on site, so driving was convenient.
I ordered the Carbonara Dough (19,000 FRW if I’m not mistaken), which is pasta with pan-fried bacon in a béchamel sauce. It was creamy, flavorful, and the portion was satisfying. It came well-plated and hot. If you like rich, cheesy pasta, you’ll enjoy this dish.
I also had one of their non-alcoholic drinks, it looked like a rainbow with layers of passion fruit and mango. I don’t remember the name, but it was sweet, fruity, and really refreshing. Their drink menu has several creative options if you're not drinking alcohol.
The environment was calm and beautiful. There’s a pool at the venue, but I wasn’t sure if people are allowed to swim. It looked more decorative than functional. The vibe overall was clean, relaxed, and nicely designed great for a dinner date, solo meal, or small group hangout.
Service was smooth. The staff were polite and attentive without being overbearing. Food didn’t take long to arrive, and everything was clean and well-maintained.
Pricing is mid-range. Expect to spend between 35,000 - 50,000 FRW for a starter, main and a few drinks. For the quality and setting, it’s worth it.
A few tips if you’re going: Although I went at night , I learnt that the best time to go is around 5:30–6:00 PM so you catch the sunset from the terrace. Try their weekday lunch deals if available (starter, main, dessert for around 20,000 FRW, if I’m not mistaken). Call ahead if you're going in a group or want a specific table. Follow their Instagram for event updates, they sometimes have live music.
Would I go again? Yes. The pasta was good, the drink was great, and the setting made it feel like a...
Read moreIt was Valentine's night so you would have thought they would have more staff on. The service was painfully slow and lacklustre. None of the staff looked happy or energetic. The guy that served us looked like he'd rather sleep instead. The Tropical Bliss smoothie was surprisingly awful for the look of the place. The mojito was also average, too sweet, and the mint wasn't fresh. One would think a chicken tartar would have more chicken than the filler starch but we could find about 3 tiny pieces of chicken. The samoussas tasted like they've been sitting around for a long time, not crisp and fresh. The Mandinka dish was nice enough to make up for the other items we ordered, but this main dish came almost an hour after the appetisers. The desserts, which tasted just okay, also took an eternity to plate up. Slowness of everything made us not want to order more drinks or anything else. We just wanted to leave. I booked and paid the 100,000RWF deposit online and our bill came to 77,000. The waiter said we would get back the difference via momo pay. After 15 minutes of waiting, a guy came and said we couldn't get it back and we needed to use up the 100,000. I asked him if this policy is clearly indicated on the website when booking online (I already knew the answer). He didn't reply and said he would be back in a minute. 5 minutes later, they paid back the difference. I always tip good service so it really pained me that I didn't tip. It was my first time here and very likely also the last time. Soy Asian Table up the road has significantly better food, staff,...
