I am very disappointed that I just found this hidden gems of One of The Nicest Thai Restaurants in Riyadh after being here for last 6 months& about to leave the Kingdom next week.
Earlier I just believed that I would not be able to find any Thai restaurant to meet my standard of Thai food since I’m Thai/Kiwi(who fussy about good food)
My stake was high since one of my friend I have taken with also working as a chef.
Today Head Chef Eddie proved me wrong from his clean, organised kitchen(you really can see from outside)attention in details on plating presentation ,home made sauce, and his kitchen just bringing food like magically fast!
Thai Soi has elevated the bar of Thai Restaurants of variety of food that I would order and got served in Thailand. Not just common Thai restaurants outside Thailand with just boring red, green or yellow curries.
Our Entreé, prawn Sui Mai&veggie spring rolls were inviting with nice plating.
I have been traumatised with not so nice sui mai for last many months but today my craving was so satisfied with homemade sauce which serving along.
I love the settle spicy level of Seafood Tom Yum hot pot.(perfect level of spiciness, sour, salty balance)Seafood Ingredients were fresh.
Som Tum Papaya Salad with Deep Fried Chicken Wing with marinated of fish sauce-I wouldn’t trade anything with this heavenly combination. So refreshing from Riyadh Heat wave.
Chicken Pad Thai-the noodle got right texture and balance with amount of sauce. Not too gravy wet or sometime you got serve with broken noodle.
I enjoyed every bites of my folk mouthful until clean the plate. What we can put the mark down perhaps only a bit of rice that not perfect but the jasmine rice was cooked(slightly over amount of water during cooking-from my friend talking)
We also having fun with our Soi Joop(strawberry soda drink)&Chatuchuk(citrusy fresh soda drink).Really nice refreshing after meal.
Front staffs being friendly and welcoming.
Overall-Thai Soi despite they are sitting at one of the corner for the whole shopping areas
However, the quality, amount of food &service are beyond my expectations today.
Keep up your good hard work to keep your consistency.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for enjoying Nice Thai Authentic...
Read moreMeaning "Thai side streets", this little restaurant unassumingly located with Alawwal plaza punches way above its weight and succeeds! The first truly Authentic Thai eatery in Riyadh offering a selection of items with true Thai flavors that are unique from lemongrass to Thai basil and Thai green curry. Unlike other "Asian restaurants" that may offer a dish or two and claiming to be Thai.
The restaurant is casual upper scale with a nicely appointed casual dining room and pretty murals on the wall. Simple touches such as the flag and the little library are welcoming and makes the place more cozy. Thier attention to detail in branding and for example having a dedicated ice crusher machine for thier drinks are little things that I do appreciate. The kitchen is professionally set up and staffed with engaging cooks (no canned vegetables here). The staff is professional, humble, friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles. Thanks goes to the drink mixer from Nepal who made just an awesome drink for me today!
I have tried Thai Soi twice now and can't believe I didn't notice it before. The menu seems even bigger when dining in as compared to the offerings via the delivery apps. I have tried the Tom Yum Kung, Chicken Thai Green Curry, Thai Prawn Dumpling, Sum Tam and Jub Jub Thai.
Every single thing I have tried was super fresh flavorful and very satisfying. The Jub Jub was a great refreshing FRESH cold coconut milk drink made to order and is just perfect in summer. The dumplings are delicate and subtle with an excellent dipping sauce that is so flavourful and balances effortlessly with the dumplings. The Sum Tam is unique with freshly shredded papaya and lightly dressed ever so fresh and crunchy. Tum Yum Prawn is just perfect light with fresh prawns exhibiting the typical flavors of lemon grass and Thai Basil . The Chicken green curry(tried earlier via delivery) was also equally unique and so enjoyable with pieces of eggplant and white rice to soak up all that saucy goodness.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys or wants to try real Thai food. There's so much more on the menu to sample and I'm surely going to come back again. A...
Read moreLooking for authentic Thai food in Riyadh is like searching for a snowman in the desert, but this place is giving it their best shot! Let me spill the tea (or should I say Thai iced tea?) about my culinary adventure.
First up, the Tom Yum prawns soup was a bit salty for my Singapore-trained taste buds. The spring rolls, though? Crunchier than my wallet after payday! However, the Satay had me missing Singapore's hawker centers.
But hold onto your chopsticks, folks! The green curry chicken was a delightful surprise, and their Phad Thai prawns? “chef's kiss” It's the kind of dish that makes you wanna want more.
The portions? Classic Saudi style - enough to feed you, your family, and your neighbor's entire extended family! I’m exaggerating. Sorry I digress!
The fresh orange juice was a zesty highlight, though the mango sticky rice seemed to have spent more time in the fridge than I spend scrolling through my phone (and that's saying something). It was playing hard to get - literally!
The service deserves a standing ovation, and the walls? More Instagram-worthy than your best friend's vacation photos. Those murals are serving more looks than a fashion week runway!
Bottom line: Will I be back? Faster than you can say "Phad Thai"! Just maybe skip the sticky rice unless you've been hitting the gym - that stuff requires some serious fork muscle!
Pro tip: Bring your phone charged and ready - these walls were made for talking... to your...
