Mamo Michelangelo in Faisaliyah has steadily become one of my all-time favorite spots in Riyadh. Whether it’s a special occasion or simply catching up with a dear friend, this is the place I always return to and it’s never disappointed. Though I gave Mamo 3 stars about 8 months ago due to some issues with hospitality and reception staff not meeting the usual high standards, I am now updating my review. I’m genuinely impressed by the improvements they’ve made, especially in how they’ve listened to and considered feedback. The hospitality now feels seamless, with a warmth and professionalism that make every visit a pleasure. The service is impeccable, from the welcoming reception staff to the attentive waiters who treat you like family. Over the years, they’ve truly refined their hospitality, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels personal and welcoming. As for the food, it’s like a dance of flavors in every bite. Each dish is crafted with such care, but I have to highlight the dessert…particularly the sorbet. We selected mango, lemon yuzu, and raspberry, and it felt like a burst of summer and spring on a plate, a perfect balance of refreshing and indulgent. One of my favorite times to visit Mamo is during lunch or early dinner, just before sunset. There’s something intimate about this time of day, with fewer crowds and the soft, cheerful sunlight streaming through the glass windows. It creates an atmosphere that’s both cozy and uplifting. Dinner, while more buzzing and lively, has a different energy. For me, lunch at Mamo is where the magic truly happens. The ambiance at Mamo is another delight. From the beautifully patterned plates to the light, cheerful décor, it’s a place that captivates all your senses. Whether it’s the music that sets the mood, the artful presentation of the dishes, or the warm conversations that flow as easily, every moment spent here feels special. Mamo Michelangelo has been a part of Riyadh’s dining scene for many years, and it’s heartening to see how they’ve evolved. It’s a place that I will continue to return to, time and time again, for the exceptional experience it consistently offers.
Thank you, Mamo, for making each visit memorable!
Old review 8 months ago: I've been a regular patron at Faisaleya restaurants, particularly Mamo's, but I noticed a significant decline during my recent visit. The reception staff seemed unwelcoming, lacking any warmth or hospitality. It felt impersonal, almost like being checked in by a machine. Moreover, there was a shortage of waiters, resulting in prolonged waits for service. Additionally, there was a limited selection of bottled water brands, with no options for local brands, which was disappointing given the current context of brand boycotts. Despite these shortcomings, the food quality remained excellent, and the waiters, when available, were attentive...
Read moreLast night, I dined at Mamo and had a rather mixed experience. I ordered the pizza and Gamberi, both of which were delicious. However, the pasta was quite ordinary, with a hint of bitterness, and the Gnocchi was tasty and soft. The Risotto alla Milanese had an unexpectedly sharp flavor. Overall, the food quality felt average given the 1,200 SAR I spent.
Unfortunately, the service was exceptionally poor. My server displayed a very unprofessional attitude. I had to ask for the drinks menu twice, only to be ignored both times. It was evident he wasn’t busy, as he was chatting and laughing with the receptionist. On my last attempt, he brought a card with a barcode and literally threw it on the table, saying, “Scan and see the drinks.” My guests exchanged bewildered looks at his rudeness, and he left without offering any apology.
Later, another staff member brought out the second-to-last dishes. When we asked for help with serving, he replied, “Of course,” but we never saw him again. My guests had to serve themselves, which was quite embarrassing for me.
To add to the experience, when he distributed wet wipes, he tossed them onto the table in front of each person. I couldn’t help but laugh; even in casual dining restaurants, servers do not behave this way! I would like to acknowledge a staff member, whose name I don’t know, but he was of African descent. He noticed the situation from afar, approached us, removed the wipes, and presented new ones in a polite manner.
In conclusion, my experience at Mamo was disappointing, and I will not return. I felt a significant lack of respect and poor treatment, especially considering the high...
