This is, not my first visit to Dakar nor to the Lodge des Almadies. The room was large and comfortable. It had a Flat TV, a desk and a small refrigerator. It has free Wi-Fi which was excellent for the first week but terrible in the second. I had to get a dongle from Orange to access the internet and be able to do my work and access servers overseas. That was mentioned to the reception staff but nothing was done about it. I was not downloading video/film or the like either!!||One aspect that I did not appreciate was that my balcony's door was unsecured. Although, the area is reasonably safe, being unable to lock you balcony doors is not good! ||Having said that the management appeared to have installed additional sliding balcony doors. Considering that my room was facing the main street, it helps to reduce the traffic noise and was appreciated. ||Room cleaning was done every day, albeit quite late in the afternoon. One would think that the staff would try to do all room cleaning in the morning knowing that the guest could return for lunch and do some work.||You may want to make sure you bring your own shampoo and conditioner and a well as a soap because the shower has an all-purpose body/shampoo/conditioner container. Call me old fashion but I can't see this being fit for purpose and a cheap attempt at saving money. ||I had one instance of bed bugs. As soon as I reported it, the management took swift action and removed all beddings etc... and sprayed the room. That fixed the problem straight away. ||The restaurant was in the other building and provided some good lunches. The breakfast, on the other hand, does not commensurate with the price charged. It was cheap and nasty. Fortunately, you have a nearby coffee shop with decent coffee and croissants etc... And the local lady supervising the breakfast needs an attitude check when being bossy bordering on being rude. ||I had some laundry done with mixed results. Brand new white cotton singlet returned "grey" obviously washed with coloured garments. ||All in all, my stay was ok only spoiled by some...
Read more5 stars for the room which I really liked with my own fridge, comfortable bed, very spacious. Bathroom was fine. Nothing to complain! I even had a balcony (I was in room 109). 5 stars also for the staff. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Even though there were some issues with our rooms, management solved it the other day. 4 stars for the breakfast. For 5500 you can serve yourself coffee, juices, some fruits, yoghurt, a bit of muesli as well as breads, crossaints, marmelade, butter, laughing cow cheese and boiled eggs. You could order omelette as well, just ask (that was super nice! Thanks). A but more variety would encourage long staying guests to go for breakfast every day. Out of 7 mornings I only went 3 times because I got a bit tired of it. There is also a taxi driver in front of the hotel, but his prices are a bit higher than from other drivers or from apps. All in all a great stay, I would rent this...
Read moreWhen you arrive it is not very easy to see where the hotel is, the entrance structure is quite strange, however, once in everyone is very friendly. They are really quick to attend to your needs. I got a room downstairs but it was full of mosquitoes, and I suspect the net was not treated as they were all over the net. I did however get my repellent and the bug spray they used, which did not work that much. ||Otherwise, the room was cool, clean and spacious enough. I enjoy the architecture and design of it all. It is a well located hotel, and close to other restaurants and hotels and has a small supermarket just nearby which is open till very late at night. You also have easy access...
