It's hard for me to write a review about this place because I'm very ambivalent about it. On one hand, the place is old, not very well-cleaned, and the room smelled of mildew and moisture. The hot water for the shower was difficult to control and often fluctuated between boiling and cold. There was supposed to be a shuttle for from the airport, but there was a miscommunication somewhere along the line, and I had to wait an hour for a shuttle to arrive, thereby adding 3 hours to what had already been a long transatlantic flight. When I finally did arrive, the front desk couldn't make change for me, and I had no choice but to grossly overtip the porter. On the other hand, it's located in a very nice part of the city, it's conveniently located from the embassy and 2 international-quality supermarkets, the breakfast--albeit simple--was quite good, and they included crepes (yum)! The service was very good, and the manager, Mr. Sall, was very friendly and helpful. Staff were friendly and easy to talk to, even despite the occasional language hurdle. The swimming pool was surprisingly clean and refreshing. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, but I don't know if I would have felt the same way had I had to stay there on...
Read moreStayed for 2 nights and would most likely stay again. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Upon entering hotel, must go through metal detectors, which I guess is becoming pretty standard these days. My room was large with a double bed, sitting area and desk. There was a safe in the room, but I didn't use it. The bathroom was ok. Basic toiletries included including washcloths. One night, it took about 1 hour for my water to work. You can imagine my suprise when i hopped in the shower with no water, not a drop. Thankfully, i didnt have to resort to using bottles of water to bathe. Other than that mishap, room was decent. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel. Although there are plenty of restaurants nearby, we opted to stay in. All the meals we had were good. No complaints. Overall,...
Read moreI am visiting Dakar for the first time and had the good fortune to stay here at this hotel. The hotel shuttle staff at the airport are friendly and showed us landmarks in town as we rode past. The food is good. Staff are friendly and very professional. Its in a vantage part of town. The older version of the hotel is in the Plateau and is right in the middle of a location where there are nice little shops, restaurants and Spas. |The only downside was the mustiness of carpets in some rooms. This is being managed by the hotel. I recommend this place...
