I made a reservation at this restaurant for our anniversary celebration. This place boasts beautiful views of Belgrade, so I decided to have a dinner there. When I was making a reservation, I specifically asked about a window seat, but they said that they couldn’t guarantee it as it depends on availability at the time of arrival, which is fair enough.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were shown to a table without a view. When we inquired about window tables, we were told they all had been reserved. Two gentlemen were finishing their meal, so a waiter told us that we could take that table when the guests would leave. They left shortly and a waiter started preparing the table. While we were checking the menu and waiting for the table, two ladies stormed in and sat at that table. When we asked the waiter about it, he said he was busy serving other customers.
So, we ordered our food where we were. In about 10 minutes a couple came in and took a window table that we were told earlier had been reserved for 4 people. What else to say?.. It’s one thing if the whole restaurant was full and we couldn’t get a table we wanted, and a completely different thing when the staff couldn’t properly handle the tables and explicitly told us falsehoods.
The food, however, was quite enjoyable. The selection of mezze with traditional bread was really good. The ribeye steak was great too albeit a bit overcooked. We ordered medium, but it came out medium-well, still delicious though. The wine list featured a wide selection of local and international wines. I tried a Serbian sparkling wine which was very good.
It’s a shame that our anniversary dinner was ruined by such...
Read moreI recently held a series of events over five days in Belgrade. The View was the cocktail party on day two. I have to say, that I was more than pleasantly surprised. I come from the event industry and didn't know what to expect. My planning company (Arkadia), helped me choose this location and I was completely following their guidance. When I walked into the space, I was shocked. We had gone on a walk thru and tasting when I arrived in country, and I was comfortable with the space for sure. But when we had the actual event... it surpassed my expectations. As the host, I can say that I would absolutely have another event here. The food was excellent. Especially since it was just appetizers and passed hors d'oeuvres. The View itself...amazing. The ambiance... excellent. But the staff... the staff made it all come together. The level to detail and constant presence ensured that none of my guests ever waited for anything. They were beyond responsive. They actually were pre-emptive. Knowing that a certain dish would run out in five minutes, they would have the kitchen ready it. Seeing drinks below half-mast and going to get another one. It just... flowed. Special thanks to the Director of Food & Beverage, Leta. She helped organize a private tour of the Temple of Saint Sava for the following day. I truly can't thank her and her staff enough for making my birthday one...
Read morePros: The restaurant is beautiful, with an excellent view and a stylish interior. The menu is quite good and tasty.
Cons: The service was terrible. On August 13th, we celebrated a birthday here. We asked for candles for the cake, but they didn't have any. We had to go to a store ourselves. They brought the cake without a spoon, and the birthday person sadly looked on until we asked for a spoon ourselves.
The food preparation took a long time. One dish was prepared for 2 hours. While one guest sat and waited all this time, the rest of us ate. When he remarked that he would soon have to leave, the waiter replied that if they didn't manage to prepare it in time, they would not include his dish in the bill.
The other dishes also took about 40 minutes to serve. And this was on a Tuesday evening, not even their busiest day.
Tea and water ordered by another guest weren't even served, but they didn't forget to include these on the bill.
I do not recommend this place; the service can ruin the...
