My family and I had a lovely dinner at Veliki Cafe Restaurant. We are from Toronto Canada and it was our final night in Serbia and this was the best dinner we had in Novi Sad. So happy we picked this place to Dine at for our final dinner. The service was exceptional and the servers spoke great English and very polite and welcoming. We ordered two salads to start which were excellent and nice presentation and all housemate dressings. They brought us a basket of homemade bread which was really nice and had mix of white and brown bread which was really nice. The entrees came and nicely presented on the plates and shoes hot. I ordered the stuffed vegetarian Zuchinni with couscous inside topped with cheese. It was great one of my favorite meals so far in Serbia. It's hard to find vegetarian options and the menu here had lots. My Mom and brother got grilled chicken dinner and they really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this restaurant and would go back next time I...

Entering into the restaurant for the first time was kind of surprising experience. The interior is made out of old building components, but with surprisingly modern chick twist. The building itself is some 200 years old, fitting nicely into K.u.K. Novi Sad environment.
The food... Ah, it's hard to talk about, or write about, for humans still don't have taste buds on eyes and ears. It needs to be experienced. The menu is small, as it should be: no pizza, no pljeskavica, no nonsense. Only classic "granny's" regional cuisine, each dish (and I've tried them most :)) prepared with that tiny "salaš" magic served in worthy amount for a hungry traveller. All in all, I think Gordon Ramsay would love it here :).
Michelin guys, if you're reading this, please consider going to Novi Sad and bringing your star with you...
Read moreWe came here after seeing the excellent reviews. However, we did not hv a good experience. Like most restaurants in Serbia, smoking is allowed inside and outside. We really liked to try the food here, so we sat outside which was more airy but hot. We ordered the pork chop w apple sauce which was highly recommended by the waiter, clear soup and grilled veges. The pork chop was too hard, applesauce was nothing special. Only the presentation looks nice. The meat had a gamey taste and 2person couldn't finish, we packed it away for the strays. The grilled veges was too charred and oily. It was a disappointing meal. Mind you the price is not cheap. Service was slow esp sitting outside, they never check on you if food is ok. There are better places...
