Lazin Salaš — Restaurant in City of Novi Sad

My friend and I went to check out this well recommended place for Serbian cuisine as I wanted to taste some local food having visit Serbia for the first time. Despite the beautiful atmosphere, the treatment from the service staff was more of disappointing than lovely. We were made to feel less welcomed as visitors than received with warmth as guests. Female staff who was serving us was very impatient to get us to order and was not even happy to make recommendations 😒. My initial keen interest to discover the food culture of Sebia was shut down with a stern approach that I shouldn't be wasting time in asking for recommendations or trying to know more about the dishes. Throughout the whole dining experience, we were the ones thanking the staff before she even bothered to respond the same. We were constantly make to feel pressured to clear our dishes and so we just quickly ate up and left. Very disappointing and stressful dining experience. If you want to show your friend what Serbian cuisine tastes like, this traditionally decorated restaurant in the heart of the city center is the place to go. Excellent service, delicious food and an overall fantastic experience!

Very briefly, because I coult talk about how good this place is for hours:

Fantastic food - everything is so delicious and well prepared, the meat is perfectly baked yet still juicy. Love it.

Excellent service - the waiter welcomes you and leads you to a table after asking whether you'd prefer to sit in a smoking/non-smoking area. (And at this place, those two areas are well separated, so if you're like me and worry about cigarette smoke, you definitely won't be smelling any here!)

Interior - it's just great! Fits the theme of the restaurant perfectly - tradition expressed in every way possible. Everything is clean and neat.

Prices are good, in spite of the restaurant being located in the city center.

Upon our recent arrival in Novi Sad, prior to departing Belgrade, it was agreed upon to make a brief stopover to dine at the local restaurant.

At approximately 18:05, we were greeted by the hostess. She informed us that we should return by 7:00 p.m., as reservations were still pending until that time, after which we would be welcome to return. I proceeded to have coffee nearby and returned around 6:55 p.m., as she mentioned. we were subjected to an unprofessional and unmannered service experience that left me deeply disappointed

The same hostess, exhibiting a deplorable attitude and behaviour, reiterated her request for our return after 7:00 p.m., despite the fact that we were only a few minutes past the time. Another arrogant guy that was sitting next to her, did mention “you didn’t listen to her? You have to come after 7pm”
