NION burger — Restaurant in Bratislava

BURGER ARTISTS! A friend of ours recently told us about Nion and said that their burgers are the best. So, we had to try it to see if he might be right. We arrived at 19:10 and they were sold out of fries, bummer. We ordered burgers anyway. We had the Modrák and the Bejkon burger. Both burgers were freaking awesome! The burger shown in the pictures is the Modrák. It had a beef patty, Níon sauce, bacon, Gorgonzola, pear chutney and pickled red onions topped with a buttered bun. It was fantastic. The meat was so tasty. The flavors all went well but neither was overpowering. And, one big plus, perfectly crispy bacon, just as it should be. These burgers are incredibly messy but so worth it. Don't bother using a napkin until you are done. These fantastic burgers are sold from a food truck that is in a small parking lot next to Billa on Bajkalská. The service was great! All three of them were really nice. These burgers are definitely on my top 3 for Slovakia. I've tried most of the top places here and this place might even come in at 1st place. I might have to do a taste test soon. Anyhow, I highly recommend this place and look forward to...

Very bad service. I had a small child with me and we arrived 5mins before the referenced close time and staff just looked at us and said “sorry closed!”

And just laughed. Terrible customer service.

Update; The reply back from the owner is not factual. 8.00pm was the second time I returned to the burger van hatch after my young daughter was very upset and hungry as we had run there after hearing good things, so I tried again - only then did the colleague then show his phone now said exactly 8:00pm and laughed at me and my daughter. I would not call laughing at an upset child ‘polite’ and this was commented on by other guests eating their food.

We first arrived at 7.55pm at the van.

But now we know the van actually closes at 7:45pm please update your Google maps and social media posts that keep stating open 11-8pm! We ran from the basketball arena to be there before 8pm.

Whether it was 7:46, 7:55, 8:00? Is irrelevant. As it seems closure/last order of the van...

TLDR: Bol som veľmi nepríjemne prekvapený nechutnosťou burger-u, napriek veľmi pozitívnym recenziám online.

Objednal som si z tejto reštaurácie jedlo “Combo - Modrák, hranolky, chipotle-mango omáčka”.

Donáška: Burger prišiel super rýchlo, aj hranolky, aj burger boli teplé, čiže z tohto hľadiska bez problémov.

Príloha: Ako som sa pustil do jedla, ako prvé ma prekvapilo množstvo soli na hranolkách a táto soľ malá dosť výraznú slanosť (kamenná soľ), čiže v stave akom to bolo servírované som to ani nevedel zjesť, teda som si počas jedenia musel každú hranolku “oklepkať” o obal, aby som to vôbec zjedol. Chuťovo a kvalitou nemám žiadne výhrady voči hranolkám, akurát miera solenia bola (fakt príliš) neprimeraná. Taktiež by som vytkol príliš veľké úlomky soli (slabo podrvené), čiže hranolky boli aj nerovnomerne osolené, čo sa taktiež odzrkadlilo na chuti.

Burger: Prezentácia burger-u bola na mieste a pustil som sa doňho s chuťou, no čakalo ma nepríjemne prekvapenie. Žemľa bola príjemne nadýchaná, chuťovo veľmi dobrá, až na to, že spodná bola “soggy mess”, no toto by som nevyčítal za chybu, keďže sa jednalo o donášku a žemľa sa jednoducho zaparí. Dochutenie burgeru v rámci chutney bolo výborné, syr bol veľmi slaný, ale taký mal aj byť, aby sa to vyrovnalo s mäsom a chutney+omáčkou na spode. Problém bol v tom, že mäso bolo presolené, omáčka na spodnej žemli tak isto, čiže celkovo ten burger bol hrozne slaný až to bolo nechutné. Nerobilo by to problém, ak by to mäso nebolo solené, ale takto som to ani nedojedol, proste mi to absolútne nechutilo.

Chipotle-mango omáčka: Veľmi chutná, príjemne pikantná, ale mango tam ani nebolo cítiť kvôli koreniu.

Celkový dojem: Bol som veľmi sklamaný. Jedlo bolo vyslovene nechutné, absolútne to tá miera solenia pokazila. Jak sa hovorí, že keď je jedlo presolené, tak je kuchár zamilovaný, tak v tomto prípade asi našiel lásku svojho života.

Mohlo sa jednať o ojedinelý prípad, že akurát pri mne sa kuchárovi šmykla ruka a vykydol tam pól kila soli, ale vzhľadom na takto nepríjemnú skúsenosť musím ohodnotiť túto reštauráciu...
