We picked this hotel because it was one of the most reasonably priced and was located the right side of the city for our needs. ||||The hotel was generally clean. The two girls we met on the reception were very pleasant and helpful and spoke very good english. ||||The room was small and modern. The shower was awful, no curtain at all, everything got wet and there was nowhere to put the rose so you had to hold it all the time. The sheets smelt of cigarettes, and there was an unbelieveably load disco on the saturday night, either in the building or very close by. The room was noisy due to the road; the double glazing wasn't great. The wifi in reception did not work (this could of been our computer, but it worked fine other places that day).||||The included breakfast was very poor. Not much to choose from. Rolls, butter, jams, cheap cereal. Weak tea and watered down juice. The fresh rolls were good. If you were lucky there was a couple of pieces of fruit. They did have an additional menu for breakfast which you could order from and pay extra. The waiter was quite harsh.||||The location was ok. Just off a busy main road, which meant public transport was not far away. The parking in front the hotel was actually across the road, next to the main road with someone sitting in a caravan all day and presumably all night keeping guard. This was slightly concerning but all was ok. There are no decent restaurants close by which is a shame. We drove. Overall the hotel suited us, if we went to Bratislava again we would probably pay more and stay closer to the city so you can walk everywhere and not have the stress of getting lost in the car.||||The Avion shopping centre is not far and has some great shops and a food court with some strange but cheap snack options. ||||The old city is beautiful, meals and drinks are reasonably priced. It was a shame to see about 5 uk stag groups wandering around on sunday afternoon. There is plenty to see and do and I would definately recommend the...
Read moreStopped at Hotel Echo for one night a part of a 5 day road trip with agroup of 6 other friends. The hotel itself is probably what you'd expect from somewhere that is still abit backward for europe. After checking in we found that the lights on the first floor were on a 20 second timer, so you could not leave the corridoor lights on. The second floor corridoor lights did not work at all. Also one of our 4 rooms had not been cleaned and smelt of smoke, another was cleaned but the bed was not made.||||The hotel receptionist was very heplful and flicked a switch the fix the lighting, got us two new rooms and booked us two taxis.||||The rooms where basic, but generally clean. The shower was a hold-it-yourself-type and the bathroom was small enough for only one person. The main thing that annoyed my wife was that we had seperate beds despite booking a double room. Maybe under communism you were not supposed to sleep togther...||||Breakfast the next day was of the continental type and the hotel has a big breakfast area downstairs.||||There is a seperate, free car park about 100 yards down the road. Next to where you turn off the main road. It looks safe, is covered by lighting and has a man in a caravan nearby looking after it.||||Overall, its what I expected for the...
Read moreThis hotel has major problems: ||||1) my room had no airco. That's a must in the summer. When you open the window to lower the heat, you hear the cars on the street.||||2) low quality of the hotel reception. When of the receptionists didn't speak english or german. That's very weird for an hotel who wants an international audience.||||3) during my stay the restaurant was always closed. Reception didn't give alternatives (because couldn't speak english).||||4) one day the hotel 'forgot' to clean my room. In general, the rooms are not fully clean.||||5) you can visit the centre by taking the bus. It takes a while before you know the bus system (only slovakian guidelines, only coins accepted in a machine next to the bus stop, you are not allowed to talk to the...
