Last night we enjoyed the most spectacular 4 course meal. The tastes, textures, colours and aromas excellently paired. Every ingredient complimented each dish from the first course of Pear asparagus and potato Parmesan beignets, followed by Mussels on sourdough with fennel chives white wine and cream reduction. By now I thought they couldn’t top that. Girl Kanghi ,as she’s fondly named, delivered our 3rd course Fillet with the finest sliced beetroot, basil courgette pesto and nasturtium with barbecue jus. I was writing this down as we went because I loved the flavours that were put together and I didn’t want to forget them when I looked at my photos later. We sipped our wine slowly throughout the first three courses that we brought with us. We were charged a minimal corkage of R50. Then the final course to sweeten the entire experience was Pecan financier chocolate sauce frangelico and coffee jelly with fennel flowers. I’m writing this review because mostly when I travel we love to experience great food and I usually write a review when I do. I don’t when I’m at home for some weird reason. Definitely needed to express our shear enjoyment of the entire experience last night at the Kitchen Table. Had you been nominated for best fine dining restaurant anywhere in South Africa, you can hold your own against the very best of them. Well done Brian and I look forward to your next 4 course series in the near...

The bacon was to well-done, making it difficult to cut or eat. But it is not the first time I’ve been here, so I know that it was most likely a trainee that was in the kitchen.
Overall it was an excellent breakfast, even with well-done bacon. The Kitchen Table provides a unique dining experience in East London of all places and soon wish to try a dinner experience, if I get the chance. It’s only on Wednesdays and Fridays, I was told to book a table in advance because it comes...
Read moreEast Londoners are the fortunate ones, having The Kitchen Table on their doorstep. They are passionate about food and cooking and each dish I have eaten there reflects this. The staff is very attentive, pleasant and well-trained and the decor is warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, I don't live in East London but won't hesitate to return to The Kitchen Table on...
