I sorely regret visiting this restaurant last night and don’t especially recommend it.
First, the good bits. Other than being louder than a construction site, the vibe is cool, the staff try hard to please and the menu fills one with much false promise.
It was very busy while we were there. Waiting a long time for food doesn’t irritate me too much personally, but it took around 1.5 hours for our food to arrive. That’s pushing it a bit, but we were forgiving on account of a very sweet manager, the free round of drinks, sympathising with an overwhelmed kitchen and not being in a hurry.
They still need to work out their coffee setup, as my double espresso was bitter and acidic, and wasn’t served with water on the side. But they took it back so no worries. It was concerning when we were cautioned away from ordering milkshakes as they allegedly had a funny taste. A foreboding sign of things to come, as it turns out. Or they just need to switch from tiger’s milk to cow’s milk. Nice craft beer though.
The Three Piggies pizza was decent, I’m told that the chicken burger was too despite untoasted buns, but the Vegetarian pizza was awful. It had as near as zero cheese and general toppings, and the brinjal was straight up raw. What kind of kitchen doesn’t know that you need to cook brinjal before the pizza goes in the oven? Or that they need to start again when the raw brinjal pizza emerges with a whimper from the oven?
Fast forward to this morning and I wake up mere moments before violently chundering all over my bedroom and eventually bathroom. This concerns me for several reasons: 1. it isn’t my preferred way to start the day, 2. now I’ve got to pay for professional carpet cleaners, and 3. that piggie pizza contained pork. And it was cooked by someone who clearly prefers pizzas al dente.
So that was my subpar experience. I wish this joint everything of the best but I won’t be back. And I wish you everything of the best too if you’re going to give it a try. I recommend you avoid the Three Little Salmonellas...
Read moreArrived at the busy stunning new venue in Walmer Port Elizabeth only to receive the worst service from our waiter (Steven). I asked him about the Soweto Cherry beer if it was a cider type beer and the answer received was "Sorry I don't drink beer so don't know the answer", not the answer I was hoping for but anyway I just ordered a water till I could decide what I wanted. With a full list if beers listed there were only 2 available draft beers on Tap as they had run out of stock of the rest. Had to wait over 40 mins to receive our drinks and then the second round of drinks I got a warm can of ginger ale plonked on the table and was told I will bring some ice now.... still waiting for that ice. I drank my warm ginger ale in my glass without ice that I had from my previous glass of water and lemon. We eventually placed our order and low and behold they got that wrong too. I ordered steak with chips. Received the steak with onion rings which I never ordered and still no chips., the steak was also tough and not what I was expecting. The food was also cold and brought it to the waiters attention and he said they will sort it out but I can keep the onion rings. When my food came back I got fresh onion rings that I never ordered and still no chips and my sauce was missing in action 🙃. The waiter apologized and said he will fix the order. I don't know what the problem was but our waiter seemed to be all over the place. There were so many other waiters and waitresses so it was not like there was a shortage.of staff. My logic tells me that if waiters got given certain areas designated to them to look after it would be easier to manage. Very disappointed, hope things improve and you receive stock soon of your...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at Tigers Milk. It was my first visit since they relocated from Walmer main road to Moffett on Main.
Service: The waiting time for everything was ridiculous. There were long delays between being asked for our drink orders, receiving the drinks, placing our food order, the food arriving and finally getting the bill.
Food: When the food finally arrived, they didn’t bring any cutlery. Were we supposed to eat with our hands? The fries that we asked for were too greasy. I’d rather have McCain skinny fries instead. Additionally, the salad we ordered came on a plate with the ingredients separated. Do they expect us to assemble our own salad when we’re already paying R130 for it? The ingredients of the food also deviated from what is listed on the menu. The halloumi salad ingredients listed on the menu had jalapeño quinoa and toasted almond flakes but it was missing on the plate. There was no spice, no flavours, absolutely boring.
Prices: The prices are outrageous. R162 for two mini tacos is excessive. They are clearly charging Cape Town rates just because they are a well known chain store.
Atmosphere: Rowdy atmosphere. The music was blasting so loud I could barely hear the conversation that was happening at my table. They switched channels at the most important part of F1 qualifiers, completely ruining the only part of the experience they provided which was half decent.
All in all, I do not recommend this...
