Alfie's Pizzeria and Deli — Restaurant in Gauteng

Did our first date night since kids at Alfie's. We were met at the door with the NICEST and BUBBLIEST young lady - never got her name - but she is a DELIGHT. We waited a few minutes and were then seated on the back patio/deck area. Russel was our waiter and what a gem. Such a nice guy. We ordered a Castle Draft and gin cocktail. The drinks took almost 15 minutes to arrive. Even in a busy restaurant, that's a long time, and it wasn't busy. The gin drink was fabulous though. We started with the Caprese Insalata and the plain Foccacia. Only thing I'd want is more basil so next time I will ask but it was SO good. We ordered Gnocchi with Prawns for me and the Quattro formagio pizza for husband. We will never be able to have another 4 cheese pizza anywhere else again. Never. It is INCREDIBLE. I've never had Gnocci before so texture wise I was unsure of what to expect. Not my cup of tea but that's fine. The sauce was SO good. Tomato-y and creamy at the same time. I did have an issue with the prawns though as they seemed more sized towards shrimp. A suggestion would be to rather do 2 large or extra large prawns, beautifully grilled and prepared as showstopper of the dish on the Gnocci instead of playing spot the Prawn. For the price of R175, I want to SEE a prawn! We ordered another round of drinks when the food arrived, another Castle Light and a glass of Sauvignon blanc. The drinks only came when we were almost finished and the wine was warm. That is very disappointing and somewhat off putting. We were not missing out on dessert as, for once, we didn't have to share with tiny humans! Husband has the Affrigato and I had the Nutella Pizza because, I mean, its NUTELLA! Mine had burnt spots on top which I managed to scrape/cut off but the tatse was still devine. Husband enjoyed the Affrigato and was awake till 2 thanks to the strength of the Espresso. My friend ordered the Canelloni Ricotta Prosciutto e Spinaci as her main course meal, when it came we were highly disappointed.. The serving size is incredibly tiny, it could pass as a starter.. A small one.. Just not worth the price at all, it was incredibly small..

I ordered the Pollo alla Griglia e Patate (succulent half chicken). The chicken was so dry and flavourless, I was using the chilli and garlic that came with my friends Canelloni, just to give it some flavour and take away the dryness.. It just was not nice at all.

They serve only 3 milkshakes (disappointing), chocolate, vanilla and coffee.. However the chocolate milkshake was devine , I almost ordered another. Very yum!

For dessert my friend had lemon sorbet, absolutely delicious!!

For dessert I had the Pizza alla Nutella (pizza pillow filled with Nutella) for R78, and again was left disappointed.. It was basically filled with air. They smeared the tiniest bit of Nutella on one side, inside the pizza.. Just not worth the price at all.. However it really did look delicious on the plate and I was so excited to eat it, but definitely was not as good as it looked..
