We decided to stay at Purple Trumpet because it was close to the venue where we had an evening birthday celebration and it had good reviews on Tripadvisor ||This guest house is well located and clearly sign posted with easy access and good secure parking in an upmarket suburb||Reception was underwhelming and simply pointed us to our room upstairs ||Upon unpacking and settling in I tried the airconditioning on this particularly sweltering hot day - set it at 16C and it barely made a difference - not cool with almost no airflow ||When I asked reception to go and have a look while we quickly went to the shops , we were informed on our return , that it works ||The room was comfortable but not clean ||Nice bed with bottom sheet not fitting the mattress Towels were tired and frayed at edges No tissues No glass in bathroom All the lights worked and lots of plug points ||When we left that evening I again complained about the aircon not working - said they will inform management Luckily it cooled down quite a bit with a rainstorm later that evening , saving us from the heat ||Next morning we waited 30 minutes for breakfast after being asked to complete a form the previous evening with a specific time indication on when it will be served (07:30) Breakfast room looked untidy and dirty No side plates and had to ask for butter Staff seemed disinterested Breakfast was ok||We will not stay at Purple...
Read moreWorst experience ever. I stayed at this place before but never had to worry about the billing or breakfast as my company sorted this out for me. I never had Breakfast at the place. The room that we stayed in ceeling was pealing at some places. The shower had black mould. We were 8 people at our beakfast table. We all placed our orders for breakfast the day before. It seems that there were just one person in the kitchen as they made breakfast for two people at our table and then started with another two`s breakfast. The breakfast that was ordered was not what was served. And when we queried it the waiter went and fetched our order to proof that we were wrong just to find out that they never read the order. When it came to the billing they never deducted our deposit and it took over 15 minutes to sort one rooms billing. At no stage where there any manager available or even asked if they could assist with...

The rooms are clean and well appointed in all aspects. Sufficient under-cover parking (even though it got really full late at night). Was not offered any information about the Wi-Fi, so can't comment on it. Check-in and check-out was quick. The restaurant/bar areas look relaxing.||||Really enjoyed the individual patio available to each room.||(note, entirely impossible to know where one is allowed to smoke so I did on the little patio, made sure there was no breeze into the room or other open windows and was diligent to clean up after myself)||||TIP: the entrance is actually in Heloma Street...
