Bennigan's Grillhouse & Bar Boksburg — Restaurant in Gauteng

It's big! with a variety of where-to-sits: upstairs, downstairs, indoors, outdoors, smoking, non-smoking, family, cozy a la semi romantic, seriously family with a single door separating the concerned Father and their supervised kiddie play departments, which sort of isolates the brat and tantrum factor from us nice people. Etc. I hate complaining, but at today's price of beer, you hardly need a wet pizza to justify the outlay. They were quite nice about it, though, and re-made a fresh one with no fuzz or hassle. Áńd, surprise, surprise (maybe Black Sunday?) - Kiddies eat free - anything off their not too shabby kiddies menu. Thanks. The menu? Sort of broad spectrum, meat specialising steakhouse, but including, not grand but sufficient, pizza, pasta, seafood, burger, poultry, salad/vegetarian/banting, all bases covered. Service? Nothing amiss; visibly up to any size party, etc. Didn’t like? The song singer/one man band. Oi! Do restauranteurs not get it, that unless they get it móre than right, 'live entertainment' in the Android age, usually means a bullet in the foot? Sorry, Mr. Song Singer of songs, it just sounded like the best...

We went there last night to try this place since it changed from Dros (we used to love it). So upon our arrival our waiter just placed the menus on out table and asked what we wanted to drink, rushing us as we didn't even open the menus.

Anyway I decided to try something new and ordered the Bobotie with yellow rice (by the way they spelled bobotie wrong on the menu which should have been my first warning LOL). When the food came I was disappointed. I had a small serving of dry white rice with what was clearly a ready-made microwave meal. The so called bobotie had no raisins and was just mince covered with a thin layer of egg. The mince was blant and I just threw salt over it to taste like something.

If I go and pay high prices at a restaurant I want a properly prepared meal, not a ready-made microwave meal which I can buy at PnP or Spar. Then they charge me R119 for that rubbish.

After that we went to a friends house and braai'd something so I could atleast eat something well prepared.

This place should have stayed a Dros as they were then forced to give a certain standard. Definitely no longer...

I just want to thank one of your staff members his name is Forster/Voster. He is the best waiter i have ever dealt with and im a regular at the restuarant and i always ask for him no matter which side he is working on child section i will still want Foster cause he gets my order right and my drinks right because i am so fussy with what i eat so he always gets it right. Sometimes Dylan doesnt want to give us Forster because he is assigned to another station so i start considering not to come but Foster is the best waiter i ever experienced and i want him to be recognized and get his "flowers" while we still alive. so Thank You Forster for the great service.please show him this message. and i will continue coming there till he resigns or leaves. And we are regulars with my family every week we are there we dont even need the menu anymore we know your menu by heart. i would expect by this time you would have gave us a free meal since we always there and spending not less than R1600 every...
