My family and I came to this restaurant on Saturday night when the rugby was on. The big screen was set up and the vibe seemed cool enough from the outside, so we grabbed a table.
The staff could be a lot more clued up on the menu as well as being attentive. The food is lackluster at best, and that's not just my opinion, the entire table had some form of an issue with their respective dishes.
We were all so disappointed by management's lack of willingness to cater for my dietary requirements. I don't eat dairy or meat, so I asked if they could replace the feta in the Roasted Veg salad with chickpeas. I chose chickpeas because I saw that they have them in another salad so I figured it would not be a big ask to simply sub one ingredient out for another.
Boy was I wrong!
The manager told me that they refuse to do it because then they would have to open up an entire tin of chickpeas and they wouldn't use the whole tin on my dish, so it would cost them money due to the fact that no other dish uses half a tin of chickpeas.
After a bit of a debate, we eventually came to an agreement that they would use half a tin of chickpeas in the dish and give the remainder to us in a takeaway. We were quite happy to pay extra for their tremendous effort of bothering to open a tin of chickpeas.
The "salad" eventually arrived and I actually wanted to laugh. It was supposed to be an assortment of roasted veg on a bed of rocket with a vinaigrette of some description, with the substitution of chickpeas for feta cheese.
There was veg alright, but it definitely was not roasted. It was boiled into an almost mush-like state. The bed of rocket somehow ended up being a handful of rocket on top of the salad, and they actually put the entire tin of chickpeas on top, despite the management saying that no-one could ever eat an entire tin of chickpeas. Oh and the best part was that they refused to only use half a tin of chickpeas on me due to cost, but there was half a cup of olive oil drowning this poor salad.
The prawns that someone else had ordered were dry and overcooked. The steak was apparently okay, but the waitress had to be reminded to bring the side sauce that was ordered. The prego roll, well, was a prego roll. It's not exactly the most difficult thing to make.
I'd recommend coming here if you're happy to order only drinks (the cocktails weren't actually that good, so stick to wine or beer) and be talked down to by the management team, if they bother to look up from their cellphones.
However, if you actually enjoy good food and excellent service, go anywhere else in Emperor's.
Needless to say, this restaurant is not Vegan friendly, nor does...

Read moreAttended a 30th birthday celebration this weekend. The host ordered platters for the guests to share. Started and mains. There were 2 types of platters to share. The one was seafood only, and the other was prawns and chicken. And there was a veg platter for those that did not eat meat on that day. The platters were worth every cent. It was ample for everyone there, plus we had takeaways. Although I did not eat from the seafood platters, the food looked flavorful and sumptuous. ( Btw I have eaten the same, previously there, so I do know that the food is as described. but on this particular day, I had a veg option, as I was abstaining from meat and fish. It is definitely value for money. The platters also came with veggies, roasted potatoes, and rice. A definite must try. And they also made their guests feel so welcome, and the birthday boy very special. We will definitely be back. 💙 ❤️ 😊. However, just another suggestion regarding their veg options. They need to maybe add more to their options when it comes to vegetarian/ vegan meals. I had a veg platter, which was very dry and bland. That's something that they may need to look into. Otherwise, they are on point. Sorry, I don't nt have any ...
