I would like to take the time, as we must, to give credit where it is due. My wife and I were walking through Emperors, when a Waiter by the name of Lelo, approached us, and enticed us to come in for supper, reluctant after the previous bad experience. We decided to go for supper, what a great gentleman Lelo was and amazing service.. And the food was equally great.. I can see now that the below review was made in haste, due to maybe 1 or 2 individuals that created the bad experience. Bare in mind I have not had contact with the management yet(despite thier efforts ) , because I wanted to see if the experience would be different without the pre notice that we might be coming etc , and it was exactly that. Amazing food and service. Big ups to Lelo. You alone have reinstalled my confidence in Spur. And my rating/review further shows that.
After finishing work at 22h00 I arrived at the spur at 22h34 as per the screenshot. And wanted to order a simple take away since they advertised to be open till 00h00. And was greeted with sorry we closed. All while many people are still eating and food still coming from the kitchen And when I advised them as per the advertised times they had a big smile on thier face almost laughing at me saying shame kitchen is closed if I was just a few minutes earlier they would have helped me. Now what a cheek honestly. We ordered from this spur to many times to count and the service has always been perfect, hence why we keep coming back. Well after this encounter. We arrived and were assisted by Lelo, definitely not the friendliest waiter by any means, everything seemed to be an issue for him to do, perhaps learning the word pleasure would help improve his perceived service, or perhaps it was the fact that he seated us at a table which he did not wipe and still had the previous patrons mess and stickiness on. As for the food, both my pregnant wife and I ordered the Chicken Mayo toasted sarmie, myself the spicy version and hers the plain, we found a bone in both of ours, not just a small bone, but a choking hazard size. My sarmie even included some nice chewy grizzle. Manager, friendly gent, offers to replace my wife's food and we settle on a plate of chips as we are too scared to try anything else, the plate of chips comes and we find a still frozen hard chip on the plate, extremely disappointing as this was to celebrate our 12 year anniversary and enjoy 1 last night out before our 1st born arrives. Added to all of this is the unfortunate fact that the entire place was dirty, floors were filthy, plastic packets floating around, marks all over, no new cutlery after finishing our starter, which I'll admit was decent. The place wasn't even busy, I guess I know why with service and food like we received. Always trust the saying that if a place isn't busy, it's for a reason. Oh and as for asking for your Spur family card, forget about it, because they don't ask or offer. Definitely won't be returning anytime...

Lemme start with the waiter ,he gave us dirty curtley and upon seeing that ,i asked him if he would atleast give us wet wipes to wipe them (curtley), he said the restaurant ddn't have any wet wipes.by way the guy's name is MPUMELELO, I requested a finger bowel , he didn't deliver . He gave us wine glasses and i asked if he could provide the normal glasses again he didn't deliver!When he came with our order/ food it was again wrong/ mixed up , He had to take it back for correction. The CHICKEN was OVERCOOKED , the ONION RINGS were not in shape!
As if it was not enough already the lady by the name NQOBILE made it worse again , So we had told her that the waiter gave us the WINE GLASSES and we preferred the juice glasses, instead of handling the matter in a professional manner ,she decided to debate with me about the glasses.I can't say much about her all i can say is, she just needs to be taught what we call "GUEST SATISFACTION " and PROBLEM SOLVING KILLS also she needs to be taught how to distinguish the glasses e.g wine glass, champagne, Beer etc.
Last but not the least i wanna THANK the waiter who went an extra mile to meet our needs .The guy's name is JR , He provided the wet wipes , the finger bowel and he also kept checking on us ,mind you he wasn't even the one who was assisting/ serving us our food, he was helping us out of good will , that was really awesome JR...
