We were refered here by family and went on a whim. The food did not dissapoint. I am not used to sides and meat being priced seperately, so it felt expensive to me.
There is no play area. Luckily we did not have our children with us.
Everything is AFRIKAANS. We Loved That! Ons Afrikaners is bekend vir ons gasvryheid. (Afrikaans people are known for their hospitality).
It was really really really LOUD with people talking. We wanted to sit outside, but the waitress said that if it started raining, they cannot gaurentee that they could move us inside. It was a cold evening and it rained the previous evening, so obviously we did not want to get stuck outside, having to drive home wet or sit on the floor inside to finish the meal? After our meal we went to look outside. There were two large empty tables under the roof. The rest of the tables were under a net. It did not feel hospitable to let us sit inside while we could have sat outside. I know 2 people at a table for ten is unrealistic, but it wasn't reserved and it would have gone a long way if we could have been outside. Maybe we could have sat outside, at a table for two, and IF it started raining they could have moved all the outside tables to the large tables?
I did not even have coffee or desert, because it was just too loud for me. If we had been outside, we would have stayed longer and spent more.
The waitress was very friendly even though we had a hard time hearing eachother. So if you know you speak soft or have sensitive ears, this is not your scene. Also, don't bring your granny if she has a hearing aid.
We loved all the Afrikaans signs. It made us smile. There is a corner with souvenirs but we could not go see, because there was a table full of people right in front of it. We would have loved to check it out.
Dankie vir die lekker kos! Die braaibroodjie was nommer 1! The Braaibroodjie...
Read moreI took my wife on a "date night" for lunch here while the old folks looked after the kids. We waited about 15 minutes for a table because we had no booking. The place is clean, neat and tidy just the way she likes it. The menu is in Afrikaans so ask your waitress to explain it to you if you do not understand the language. If you like red meat then this is the place for you. However if you want a quick meal you are better off getting an oil soaked piece of chicken from the colonel. Here you are going to wait about 40 - 50 minutes for your food, so relax and order another round. There is no music because people come here for the food and conversation, not the entertainment. The waitresses are friendly and understand the menus well. I ordered a "meat platter for two" and when the waitress turned to my wife, I explained it was for the both of us. I have been on the Weigh Less black list for years and want to slim down a bit. BBB is busy inside. Everyone is engaged in conversation with friends and strangers alike and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Look around and you will see the largest gathering of bearded guys together except for a Hell's Angels breakfast run. I mean, beard oil is what created this restaurant. The food was great, just the way we liked it. The waitress did not bother us too much. Just enough to make us think she cared. We spent just over two hours there and had a great time. For the success of my "date night", BBB...
Read moreThis is an easy review to write, because Buffelsfontein Beesboerdery was such an amazing experience.
From the call me made to make our booking, to being one of the last tables to leave the restaurant, it was amazing.
A loverly warm atmosphere greets you when you enter the restaurant, welcomed by friendly staff, ready to help you to your table.
Our party was me, my wife, and two young children, and we all enjoyed the entire evening. The menu is more limited than advertised online, but it was still very well balanced, to cater for any lus (craving) :D.
Meat meat and more meat please! I ordered the 1.2kg ribeye clamp steak, which is brought to you table clamped in a vice on a large clean wooden chopping board. The chips, pampoen koekies, carpacio, bobotie rolletjie happies (spring rolls) -I have to add- was frieken amazing :D. And the massive spread of desert choices (especially ice cream) is mouth watering. The cream brulé was out of this world. Maybe from Mars. Loved it!
They have a gift shop stocked with Buffelsfontein's famous brand products. Most of which are all functional and beautiful. You have to buy their coffee mugs! To demonstrate their service, they especially opened the shop for us after our dinner, and we bought some great momentos.
You have to come to Buffelsfontein Beesboerdery and you will want to return, with friends.
Thanks Buffelsfontein Beesboerdery for a...
