A consistently pleasant experience. We got to the venue a little earlier than I had booked as I had often noted the popularity of this venue. We didnt wait too long, there was no problem accommodating us. I know this place is very popular on the weekend.
Great, tasty, tempetature hot (not so spicy that you need to store toilet rolls in the fridge beforehand), Portuguese cusine, awesome sauces to augment if needed...good general winelist with a few specialities...and not too expensive.
Highly responsive l.problwm solving team... and I noted a number of folk, having driven a distance to get takeaways from here too...
The facilities are clean and tidy. The kitchen is responsive and well stocked too.
I often driven past and see a full or overflowing parking lot... with dedicated security who watches cars parked outside... as well as those parked inside.
As we begin our winter, you may want to wear your jackets inside...
We celebrated by starting with a couple of OldBrown Sherries and were tempted but restrained from ordering other beverages... we decided to skip the very tempting and delicious starters, which had we experienced on a previous outing and go straight into the main course.. no disappointments here, generous, filling, tasty, not over cooked, firm vegetables and perfectly well cooked seafood. Since my party had all been up since 04h00, we decided to skip the deserts... On my previous visit, there is a great spread of cold and hot deserts to chose from.
Can't. Wait...
Read moreThis is our first personal experience and how we felt so I won’t let it be minamised by not sharing. Upon entering the only friendly faces were the waiters, the manager or owner sat directly opposite us with the most miserable, unwelcoming, suspicious look. I ignored it at first as I assumed maybe she is having a bad day.
My fiancé is a peoples person and as usual made the effort to connect with some friendly banter, we were never once checked on by the manger yet she walked around the room to all her regular customers. I made eye contact with her several times and smiled yet her stares were cold and I felt extremely uncomfortable in my own skin due to feeling her hostility. I was probably one of four brown people in there and felt her demeanour was due to my skin colour. I had mentioned it a few times to my fiancé who is Caucasian, and had asked him to smile at her to see if she would smile back at him and what a suprise she smiled back at him. The food, and live music was enjoyable however I won’t be supporting any local businesses on African soil that does not make me feel welcome as a...
Read moreFolks, you know I love eating out and trying out various restaurants. This one was good, very good. A portuguese restaurant. I am definitely going back. The atmosphere was welcoming and cosy. There were a few gas heaters that warmed the place, just enough to be comfortable. Starting off, our waitress was friendly and well versed regarding the menu. We all ordered a portuguese steak from the menu which came with and egg on top of the steak and round chips. We side ordered some veggies as well, which came in separate bowls. The veggies were great, not overcooked, full of taste and colour. The chips, needless to say, was awesome. Folks, I love a good steak, especially if it is very soft and has no blood. Yes, I know some would yell at me but this was good. A steak that is medium to well done, no blood, but so tender that I did not even need a steak knife to cut the meat. This chef gets my gold medallion. Well done chef. You have a new regular and everyone will know about it. See you...
