Crawdaddies: A Disheartening Third Visit
In previous visits to Crawdaddies, I was left with good memories of sumptuous food and somewhat commendable service. Regrettably, last night's experience stands in stark contrast.
Our group, comprised of 7 adults and 4 eager kids, hoped to celebrate a special birthday in a familiar place. However, the evening quickly devolved into a series of disappointments. We were uncomfortably pressed into a 6-seater table. While space constraints are understandable, the lack of effort to accommodate us as the night progressed – despite evident vacancies – was a letdown.
What truly overshadowed our evening was the manager's attitude right from the outset. His demeanour was a stark departure from the welcoming and accommodating spirit we’d experienced during our past visits. This initial interaction was so off-putting that it became a major topic of discussion for the first half of the evening. Instead of celebrating and immersing ourselves in our friend's birthday festivities, we found ourselves repeatedly coming back to the manager's behaviour.
It's disheartening when a single interaction has the power to shift the mood of an entire evening, but that's exactly what happened. To add to this, the assistant manager's infrequent visits to our table didn’t help much either; they came across as mere formalities rather than sincere attempts at ensuring our comfort or addressing our concerns.
After shelling out over R3500 and witnessing this stark drop in service quality, it's hard to envision a swift return to Crawdaddies. While their seafood remains a culinary delight, the glaring lack of hospitality on this visit has left a sour taste that might not...
Read moreThe first and last time my boyfriend and I went there, everything was absolutely perfect. The service was good and the platters were fantastic. I've updated this review because the last time we went , everything on our platter was cooked to perfection. I don't feel like it comes close to the standards and consistency of Brooklyn's Crawdaddys. There, the service is absolutely impeccable and consistent, and the food has bigger portions, too. The produce is perhaps just better at Brooklyn. The LM prawns were quite smaller than the ones at Brooklyn, and most of them weren't properly cleaned out. I bit a prawn that was grainy, and it put me off the whole dish. The rest of the table enjoyed their dishes, though, and our friends with kids love this Crawdaddy's because it has a kid's play area. I would go back and hope for the same experience that we had this very last time. Hopefully, the...
Read moreLet’s start with the drinks. The milkshakes were watered down or maid with crushed ice. Both my wife and I had ice shards in our shakes. Our child’s Mac & Cheese was like play-dough. And the colder it got, the tougher it became. After we received our food, we struggled for about 15 min to draw the attention of any staff member, so we could ask for cutlery. My wife eventually went to the kitchen and asked there. By this time our food was cold, so I told them to take it back. We asked the waiter for cleaning wipes cause my wife had a seafood platter. They never brought any. So, for R325 you can get iced down milkshakes, 6 prawns and Microwave Mac and no cutlery. Only item I did not pay for was the untouched cold steak. They probably nuked it for someone else. On a side note, the table next to use asked what was on special and the waiter told them everything on the menu with “SQ”… ...
