On Friday the 14t/12 I had to go to JNB to run some errands and by the time I finished it was Lunctime. I asked my son , wholived in Forrest Town for a few years to give me some names of Pizzerias owned amd managed by Italians.. He sugegsted Franco's as he was a reguar client of the Trattoria. So we went to the place but we took a wrong turn and by the time we arrived at the Restaurant it was almost 14h00. We had to find a parking but eventually we made it to Franco;s. It was about 14h05 and as I enetered the place and asked for a table for three I was told in no uncertain terms that the Restaurant closes at 14h00 (since I walk around with a walking stick I was loking forward to seat down). I could not belliee it.. In all my travels abroad I have never been denied admission to a restaurant only because I was late for a few minutes.. They could have easily told me that "the kithcen is now closed by we could offer someting that does not require cooking". !!! Therefore I cannot express my opinion on the food but as hospitality goes...

This is Italian food at its best. Simple, delicious, affordable, family-owned - the makings of a memorable experience.

The decor is classic and simple. The service is impeccable. The owners always welcome you with a smile. The menu has a wide range of pasta and pizzas. I always recommend listening to the specials of the day as they are items not found on the menu and they are always sublime.

I absoltuely love the classic salad Italian - the mozzarella cheese with the creamy dressing are absolutely delicious. A personal favorite of mine is the seafood pasta - fresh seafood with a tasty tomato and chilli sauce. One of the best seafood pastas in Johannesburg.

They have a pizza oven on site and all pizzas are thin based with a divine tomato sauce. I particularly enjoy the diavola.

They have a wide selection of drinks, including Italian beers.

This is a restaurant you will return to frequently. Especially with the family.

P.s. if you eat here often enough you'll be...

Amazing experience! We decided at the last minute to pop out for some pizza and decided to try Franco’s as I’d overheard someone raving about their pizza a few weeks back. We walked in at peak time on a Friday night, the place was jam packed and I didn’t hold out much hope for a table but a lovely guy at reception made a plan for us very quickly. Our waiter was outstanding (didn’t get his name) but absolutely fantastic service. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. The food was incredible, true Italian style pizza. Fast service despite them being so full. I haven’t had such an impressive dining experience in years. This place is a real hidden gem with a warm inviting atmosphere. I’ll be back again and again!! ❤️ Ps: still hoping snails get added to the menu 😜 Well done to all staff for their hard work and dedication in making this beautiful...

This place has been on my to-do list for a while — after all, it’s been around since 1986. Getting there feels a bit unusual, as you walk through an older shopping centre, but once inside the atmosphere shifts completely. From the start, the welcome was warm and genuine. 🥳 The lovely Italian lady (Franco’s sister) was fantastic with her recommendations and daily specials — you can really feel the passion behind the food. The menu is classic, no-frills Italian cooking done right. I went with the tagliatelle mussel pasta in a light cream and tomato base, while Anna chose the butternut conch pasta. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for honest, old-school Italian food served with heart, this spot is worth the visit

This is a great place for a family dinner or romantic date. The ambiance is wonderful, the oven is visible and warm, it seems the owners are personally involved. It's nice that you can bring your own wine. However, I do have a small complaint -- one of my favourite pizzas is the Salsiccia, and that's what I ordered here, hoping for an authentic experience. Unfortunately instead of the crumbly pork fennel sausage I expected, there was a hard, store bought sausage that seemed quite wrong for a salsiccia pizza. This is the only reason I'm docking one star off the rating. Everything else was 5 stars, including the Tagliatelle alle cozze and the carpaccio. The place gets quite full so it's better to reserve a table.
