Another delayed post from Me 🤦🏽‍♀️ what can I say duty calls and trying my best to play catchup. So every year we have a tradition as siblings to go to the CANSA SHAVATHON 2021 and thereafter pick a different spot for lunch thereafter. This years pick was George's Grill House at the new Neighborhood square in Linksfield.

I've been following their drool worthy pictures on Instagram since they opened so I finally got to try them, and as you know I am a meatlover so this is definitely a spot for me.

On arrival we were seated at a table near the entrance with some nice fresh air and decent spacing. We waited quite a while to be served and wondered whether we made the right choice. Eventually I got up and went to the waiters standing at the entrance and asked for assistance, luckily the experience all changed from there.

We were then served by Wisdom, who is a really cool dude and gave us such great service and laughs. We started off with some drinks, I of course had my Cosmopolitan (Vodka, Monin Sundried Orange, fresh lime and Cranberry Juice.) and my sister had the George's Rvils eye (Vodka, Monin Blue lagoon, Cream and Lemonade) which matched her bracelet.

For starters we tried the •Spicy Feta with Pita Bread. •Beetroot chickpea Falafels with Tahini •Tempura fried Feta with peppered Honey.

Everything was superb. The starters are enough to fill you, and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we chose, but I was really hungry and was adamant i was having steak.

For mains, I couldn't decide so being me, I had a combo. Steak and Ribs with Chips along with a Mediterranean Mule (Vodka, Ouzo, Lime, Gingerale, Monin Morella cherry), my brother chose the Steak, Prawns and chips and my sister went with more starters - the Zucchini fries and the Sheftalia (Pork Sausage). Our orders got slightly mixed up in terms of cooking as I got the medium Sirloin steak and my brother the medium-well Fillet. I'm normally the one who takes my meat dead lol so I survived the medium and it was tender.

Although I had starters I polished off my plate completely. 😂 no leftovers. Actually we all did and decided we might as well go the whole hog and have dessert.

We first got some Greek Coffee, and then ordered the:- Ekmek Kataifi. Yes that is the name of this dessert. A combination of custard and whipped cream with shredded pastry in syrup covered in chopped Pistachios. Rich but very satisfying.

Baklava Sandwich - Mastiha Ice Cream with Baklava and Sour Cherry. I only tasted the pastry as I stay away from ice cream.

Lastly the Bougatsa

Crispy Phyllo pastry with custard cream. Now this one I also tasted, but sadly I preferred the place where I first tasted it over a year ago🤔 sorry. This was the only "let down" in terms of the food as the pastry was too hard and so was the custard cream.

Nonetheless there are plenty more options I am going back to try and more desserts to conquer.

Looking forward to going back again with friends sometime and to discuss the fact that they have been around since 1972 🤔😂

If you in the area go check them out you won't be disappointed and thanks to Wisdom for great...

I was recommended by Evan Mervis of Mervis Brothers Jewellers to visit The Neighbourhood Square, so I decided to take a Bolt for the first time. The ride was fast and pleasant, dropping me off right in front of the bustling George’s Grill House. The outside and inside were pleasantly filled, so I took a stroll around to explore other shops and amazing restaurants that I’m excited to try in the future.

When I returned, the restaurant was still mostly filled, and even as I eat and write this, it’s hard to spot an empty table. I was promptly greeted and welcomed inside. I made my way to the bar, which, in America, I find to be the fastest and best way to get food and service. I was quickly greeted by Gianluca, the respectful and polite manager, who asked if he could get anything for me while I waited. I requested a menu, and he promptly sent a server named Loyd to assist me.

Not knowing the day of the week, I asked Gianluca about any specials. He informed me that while the weekday specials weren’t available, they had a special dish exclusively for Sundays and weekends. I was impressed by his knowledge and helpfulness.

Observing the restaurant while it was extremely busy, I noticed Gianluca being polite and respectful to the waiters, even assisting when needed. The teamwork was incredible, almost like a ballet. The back-of-house staff replenished glasses so stealthily that you never heard a clink. It was impressive to see the staff thrive under pressure, working seamlessly as a team.

I even witnessed a unique dish being served to a nearby table and a birthday song performance. A waiter noticed I wanted to ask a question and immediately assisted me without hesitation. The dish I inquired about and will be having shortly is the Caramel Mint Crisp—it looked so good!

I had the corn salad and the truffle cheese and mushroom burger for the second time in less than 24 hours. Everything was perfect until I noticed a tomato in my burger, which I had requested without. While it wasn’t a big deal, it reminded me of a recent experience where someone I care about had an allergic reaction to an unexpected ingredient. It’s crucial to ensure that orders are made as requested to avoid potential issues. Aside from this, the service was perfect—excellent teamwork, respect, delicious food, and cleanliness.

The bartender ensured high-quality service with zero spots on the glasses before using them, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail. I even saw Gianluca refilling lemons, proving no job is beneath him. This location and restaurant have become one of my new favorites. I would highly recommend this place and location—be sure to say hi to Gianluca. It’s incredible that he has only been here a couple of weeks. Please work on ensuring that special requests are adhered to before I return with other...
