I have been eagerly anticipating a visit to Hinterland Restaurant since 2016, back when Beluga was at this location. I was excited by their abilty to appreciate steaks by the fact that they have a butchery, which made me think this establishment truly understands meat. I also appreciated the fact that you survived the challenges posed by COVID-19.
On the 1st of June 2024, our party booked a table for lunch, looking forward to a memorable dining experience. We ordered three different steaks: two ribeye on the bone and a T-bone. All three were ordered as medium rare, but the results were inconsistent. Specifically, the T-bone was closer to medium (well-done) while the ribeyes were rare.
The main issue was the service. When the ribeye was ordered, we mentioned to the waiter that we were excited to see if medium rare would meet our collective agree understanding and expectations from an establishment that prides itself on its meat.
Unfortunately, we received three steaks that were not medium rare. When we raised the issue with both the waiter and the manager, they couldn’t define and explain medium rare. They were inconsistent in their explanations and did not use a standard definition or explain from it. They misunderstood the conversation about why the three cuts didn't have consistency based on a definition.
This experience was disappointing, especially considering the anticipation and high expectations we had for Hinterland Restaurant. We hope that in the future, the staff will be better trained to understand and communicate the standards for steak...

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Hinterland, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere exuded warmth and sophistication.
The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the food. The Sirloin, cooked to perfection, showcased the culinary expertise of the chefs. The Pork Belly was a delightful symphony of flavors, and the Chicken Schnitzel was an absolute standout. Each dish including the Crème Brûlée dessert was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and taste.
Equally impressive was the impeccable service we received throughout the evening. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The owner Jacques's hands-on approach was evident as he took the time to check in on our table, ensuring every detail met our expectations. Such attentiveness truly elevated our dining experience.
I wholeheartedly recommend Hinterland to anyone seeking a remarkable culinary adventure. The combination of outstanding cuisine, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a standout choice. I look forward to returning and savoring more of the delightful offerings this establishment...
Read moreThis restaurant came up as a Google recommendation to me as it matches the type of restaurants that we enjoy. I read the reviews and decided to give it a go. 1st impressions were good with a decent selection of wines and a variety of "difficult to choose between" dishes listed on the menu. I like the layout / design of the restaurant, the chicken liver starter was good. Although they were busy, the service between drinks was a bit slower than I would have liked. The rump steak was very good, although it was a bit cold and I had to send it back, coming back the plate was still cold and the meat was only marginally warmer. It was however still a good, tasty piece of meat. The veg was nice although very chunky cuts of the butternut and sweet potato, I think a slightly less chunky cut would have been a more elegant serving, all that said, it was an enjoyable outing with good food and drink. The chairs were by far some of the most comfortable chairs I have ever had I a restaurant. I will be back, hopefully I will be able to give a better rating next time. For people on the fence, it's definitely...
