Let me preface this by saying I wasnāt asking for a five-course banquet. Just a Fully Loaded Box Mealāa burger, chips, one piece of chicken, and mash. Simple. Standard. The kind of thing youād expect KFC, a company quite literally built on chicken, to have in stock at all times.
But apparently, that was asking too much.
I pulled into the drive-thru around 22:00ānot exactly the crack of dawn, but not midnight either. Reasonable, if you ask me. The voice crackling through the speaker informed me, with all the enthusiasm of a sloth on sedatives, that they only had Zinger burgers and loaf. Yes, loaf. What even is āloafā in this context? A lonely slice of bread mourning its purpose?
So let me get this straight: A multinational chicken franchise⦠Didnāt have chicken burgers. Didnāt have one piece of chicken. Didnāt have mash. Didnāt have the core ingredients that make up 70% of your menu.
What you did have was excuses.
And forgive me if Iām a tad skeptical, but it felt more like a lazy end-of-shift tactic than an actual stock issue. The vibe? āWeāve cleaned the fryers, we want to go home, so letās tell people weāve run out of chicken.ā Pathetic.
I wasnāt rude. I wasnāt difficult. I didnāt try to make some custom off-menu monstrosity. I wanted what any reasonable person would expect from a chicken shopāchicken. And instead, I got a metaphorical slap in the face and a strong sense that my presence was an inconvenience.
So I left. Drove off without ordering. Because why reward apathy with currency?
KFC, if you're going to close at 23:00, then be open until 23:00. Donāt masquerade as a functioning restaurant when the kitchen has already checked out and the staff are clearly more interested in winding down than serving customers.
Last night, I didnāt leave with a box meal. I left with a bitter taste and a firm decision: Next time, I'm going somewhere that actually...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely terrible service. My experience started once I drove to the collection window of the drive through to collect my order. I was told to go wait in the parking lot as they were still cooking the chicken.
After 15 minutes I became a bit impatient and decided to go inside to find out what was going on. As I entered KFC I went to the till to find out what was going on. I was told not to worry as my order was almost done and it was on its way. One of the employees was looking at me laughing with her colleagues, however I couldn't hear what she was saying.
I decided to wait in the car patiently. Another 15 minutes passed and still no one came with my food. At this moment I got really angry and walked back into the store. I asked again where my food was. The lady who told me to wait in the parking lot quickly ran to the back where she had an argument amongst her colleagues. I could see that they were only putting my order together now.
I must mention she did apologize, and I could see that she was genuinely sorry. However I am not happy that I received such terrible service for the amount of money...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am highly dissatisfied with my order the meat I received yesterday from KFC Menlo park Pretoria was not fresh, its smelled old and was not eatable, it was like it was cooked and placed back in the fridge and reheated the next day, even the colour was slightly burned ( not golden but dark brown as the picture) then was served the next day. I wanted to save and cater for load shedding schedule that when I get home I just have to cook pap, however I waisted my last money.
Kindly look into this, I called KFc Menlo Park explaining this, I was told that I should return the meat to the store, I left the meat at home is still there, But how do I carry around rotten meat from and to work, and who must collect it as I ordered online, If my order was freshly prepared this would have been avoided. See attached order confirmation...
