We thoroughly enjoy dining at Spur, which has become one of our favourite establishments. Our recent visit to Santa Cruz was my first time at this location. Given my partner’s preference for the smoking section, we typically find such areas to be suboptimal in terms of ambiance. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and good ventilation of Santa Cruz’s smoking section. The presence of large windows further enhanced the overall atmosphere. Although the air conditioning left a bit to be desired, it did not significantly detract from our overall enjoyment.
As for the cuisine, it met our expectations precisely, and we relished every bite. I did order a strawberry daiquiri with an additional shot of Bacardi, but unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. The cocktail was disappointingly watered down and lacked flavour. It’s worth noting that this issue extends beyond Santa Cruz and pertains more to Spur’s cocktail offerings. While Spur is primarily known as a steak ranch and not a cocktail bar, we fondly recall the days when pre-mixed Mainstay daiquiris were on the menu - they were delicious. We were also pleased to see the return of the warm finger bowls, to rid diners of sticky fingers after a great meal.
The true highlight of our visit however, was our host and waiter, Moment. From the moment we were seated, he warmly welcomed us and ensured we felt right at home. His attentiveness and friendliness elevated our dining experience, and his service was truly exceptional. We extend our gratitude to Moment for his impeccable service.
Overall, our experience at Santa Cruz was quite enjoyable, and we look forward to...
Read moreWe just went to Spur, as we do just about every week recently. Ordered our food, which arrived. Great stuff. We had one or two bites, then they played the birthday song. I kid you not, it was so loud that customers were covering their ears. My ears were ringing. Immediately afterwards they started playing the hillbilly rock. It got louder and louder and louder. They restarted the song not once, not twice, but four times. My boyfriend has an ear condition which makes his hearing hypersensitive in one ear and he started physically feeling dizzy and nauseous because of how loud the music was. We abandoned our barely touched food, went to the manager at the front and told him we were leaving and why. He apologized and said he would turn down the music, but it was too late. The evening was ruined and my boyfriend was physically ill because someone seemed to think they were in a club instead of a family restaurant. I called the manager, Easy, afterwards and told him where we were sitting so they don't blame the waiter for us not paying for our dinner, despite barely eating any of it. It was absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. After being regulars at this Spur since they opened, at this point we never want to go back there. Worst dinner...
Read moreI arrived early for my birthday and my brother in laws birthday at spur northmead square. I sat down at 10am and ordered a coffee whilst waiting for my family to arrive. I am on a calorie restricted diet so I ordered 2 boiled eggs and a bit of mushrooms. I repeated my order twice as well as my wifes order twice. The reason for this was that she had been in hospital for a week and this would be a treat for her, i didnt want there to be any mistakes. The food took pretty long to arrive and once the food arrived the mince was served and only a few minutes later the toast arrived? This ticked me off but i was in for a big surprise as my waiter asked do I want sunny side up eggs? I specifically repeated my order twice for this not to happen. So I asked the waiter if he remembered my order of 2 boiled eggs? He replied yes! So i asked him why would he ask me if i want sunny side up? His reply was because the boiled eggs takes too long?! By this time everyone is digging in and im starving and having an argument with this ignorant waiter! I was so ticked off that i canceled my food order and just waited for everyone to finish their food so We...
