It's a nice SPUR with friendly staff and a decent sized kids play area. Regarding the kids play area, it seems the supervision provided is sometimes overwhelmed by the number of children present. They do their best but I think this can be addressed.
The atmosphere is good and friendly but the number of times they play the "Happy birthday" song at full blast is really annoying and SUPER LOUD. It takes away from your own meals and conversations as it really is so loud and invasive that all at the table need to stop talking as no one can hear each other... Would be great if they had a portable bluetooth speaker which can be played at the table of the birthday guy or girl.
Then the food... not bad but the chicken thighs as part of the rib and chicken combo, were dry and not seasoned. The condiments were oily to the touch and basically empty.
All in all a good escape over the holidays with your young ones, but small improvements would make a massive difference.
Today, the 29th of May 2024… I decided to take my wife, sister and daughter to this Spur again to see whether things have improved. The short answer is "not really"... Heres why - I ordered steak with soft eggs. The steak was alright but the eggs were basically raw #salmonella anyone? See pictures. My wife ordered a hamburger with fries and onion rings and my sister the ribs and chicken wings with fries and onion rings. They both complained that the fries tsted like fish - guess it's the oil. While we were eating the smell of urine wafted in from the toilets which had a terrible effect on our appetites.
Also, I think there were about 6 birthdays being celebrated over the loudspeakers with each song being around a minute long but to a sound level that is simply too loud and hinders those in coversation. I mentioned this the last time and suggested a portable bluetooth speaker to play the music at the table locally, but to no avail it seems.
Finally, the staff were friendly as always and the atmosphere was jovial and lively. It's a shame really as the food and smells really did not contribute to the...
Read moreWent there on 15 June 2023 and sat down at 11:08am, missing the breakfast hour. Tumi, was our waitress and her service was poor.
For drinks we ordered a vanilla milkshake, a Cappuccino and a filtered coffee. My milkshake arrived first and 15 minutes later the coffee and cappuccino arrived. We would have preferred to have our drinks before the food arrived not with it.
With regards to the food, we ordered a nacho chicken salad (for me), a double stack quesadilla, and a egg and bacon sandwich. Please note that when we placed the order we placed the drinks and food together, so there was no need for a massive delay. Anyway, the quesadillas and sandwich came out first, then a few minutes later, Tumi walks to our table with a plate of nachos. We sent her back as I specifically ordered the nacho chicken salad. Tumi's words to the table was, ok the order will be ready in 2 minutes. Not sure why she chose those specific words because, it was in fact not ready in 2 minutes.
The 2 guests at the table decided to start eating due to Tumi stating, 2 minutes. After they finished eating, which was most probably 15 or 20 minutes, Tumi arrived with my dish. No apology for the wait, no checking in on us. We were seated near the playpen, so some sort of distraction while becoming frustrated.
During our stay we witnessed another table going to the front desk and it appeared that there was an issue.
I must say when it came to paying, Tumi's 2 minutes came to life.
Here are some tips for Tumi/the staff: I'd suggest she stops making use of "2 minutes" and work on table manners. Repeat the order twice/trice back to the table to ensure no mistakes, even after writing it down. Make sure to ask whether the table would like their drinks with their meals or beforehand. And check in on the table (even if just once) to ensure satisfactory service. She passed our table multiple times after taking our order and during our stay, therefore there was no excuse to say something about the wait.
Ps. The vanilla milkshake was good and I liked the...
Read moreRe-Review. Unfortunately the most recent visit to this Spur turned out to be unsatisfactory and the polar opposite to my previous review. From start to finish the service was shocking. We waited at the door to be seated, 2 waiters walked past and just looked at us with the last one walking past shouting something to a trainee who eventually q'd us to a table. We sat for almost 10 min whilst other tables that were seated after us were assisted and we were not. Had to stop a waiter walking past and ask to order something to drink. Another waiter who was serving all the tables around us approached and I asked if we could order and her reply was we can't order with her because she doesn't know who our waiter was. I then asked to speak to manager at this point and she sent another trainee to our table. I then managed to order from the trainee and stopped the manager walking past. He apologized and advised he would address it and the waitress should have helped us whether she knew who our waiter was or not. Needless to say our food arrived incorrect, white toast instead of brown and 2 x extra cheese grillers instead of the 1 ordered. Never saw another waiter again and sat with empty plates for a long while. Eventually asked another waiter to bring the bill only to notice they never rang up the drinks. Walked to the till to pay and advise the trainee she forgot to ring up the drinks, no thank you, just a oh and she rang them up quickly. Whilst waiting to pay there was another family waiting to be q'd, 3 x waiters and 1 x manager behind the cash register and not 1 of them would offer to go and q. I suggested someone should go and help and the lady manager then decided to go....
