Padstal — Restaurant in Gauteng

I Visited Padstal on a Tuesday afternoon just a little after the official lunch hour was over. And I was surprised at the amount of people that were still there. I had to worm my way into a parking between two huge 4x4s, who thought they were the only ones in the parking lot. I was met by a pretty friendly waitress and promptly given an open table. There was a local musician playing a Gig and the performance was top notch. I ordered a simple lunch menu item it was a steak and pap special the food and drink didn't take long to arrive at all and it was very good the steak was cooked nearly perfect and the pap and sauce was really good. The music got interrupted by blaring TV sounds and it looked like some rugby team announcements and fanfare around that. I am not a huge fan of the sport so I kind of wouldn't have minded if the music continued. Looking around at most of the other tables it seemed like I was not the only one. People were talking and almost screaming over the blaring TV noise just to have conversations. Two or three groups of older people excused themselves and left. At certain times during this interruption it was difficult to find my waitress especially when I wanted to order extra drinks. It can be expected on a busy day like this and just saying if you do go on a busy day be prepared to be patient with the staff and the atmosphere alike if sports is not your thing. But after that the music was back on and i actually stayed longer than I planned to stay. So it was a good afternoon i was surprised at my bill the food prices were very decent as well as the drinks. And i could still give the waiter a decent tip without breaking the bank. I would definitely go there again when...

I want to start by saying that this is purely my opinion based on multiple visits to Padstal. I’ve been there many times, so this review reflects my overall experience rather than just one visit.

My most recent visit was on February 14, 2025. As always, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was super relaxed. There’s always background music playing, creating a great vibe.

I’ve tried a variety of items on the menu—breakfasts, appetizers, off the grill meats, burgers, and now pizzas—so I’ll be as honest as possible.

Overall, the food is really good, and I feel the pricing is fair. The breakfast, in particular, is something I always recommend to friends and family—the omelets are fantastic. I’ve also had almost every burger on the menu, and they are definitely worth it. The meat is always perfectly prepared, making them an easy recommendation.

However, on our latest visit, we decided to try the pizzas for the first time. We ordered a Mexican pizza and another one that I believe was steak and sirloin (though I could be mistaken). Unfortunately, both were underwhelming. They were fresh and served hot, but they lacked flavor.

That being said, I’ve never had any issues with any other item on the menu. This was the first time I found something disappointing, and I’m only mentioning it because, after trying almost everything, it’s the only dish I wouldn’t order again.

Aside from that, Padstal remains one of my favorite places. The food is fresh, the staff is always friendly, and they check in regularly to ensure you’re happy. I absolutely think it’s worth visiting, and I’ll continue going once or...

Absolutely disgusted … We went for dinner and a few drinks and when we wanted to get the bill before 9pm my husband went to the waiter and paid at the point of sale only for the waiter to tell us he let my husband pay the wrong bill so my husband paid R1600 instead of our bill of R770 … then they had to refund us R830 so the waiter and the manager said it will take 5 minutes..only to sit and wait over 40 minutes because the manageress wasn’t on site with the keys to get the cash …. By this time we were rather annoyed since we had somewhere else to be, so eventually she came out with R640 which was still short so then she went back and took forever to come out again, then I said to her we have been waiting almost an hour , so the manageress says to me “but I don’t stay on site and I especially came here for you” so I said to her , this wasn’t our fault but your guys fault.

I’m honestly absolutely disgusted and rather annoyed that she had such an attitude at the end when we were already annoyed over this whole situation.
