I met up there with an old flame after two years of not seeing each other. I suppose I would say it did not go that bad. Not that the fake candles helped in any way to rekindle a fire of any sorts but yet there they were. The service was not great pretty average I think. But at least there was someone from time to time. I had the Steak and beer special and was a bit surprised that the beer was pretty warm. On enquiry I was told that is how a craft beer is supposed to be served. Anyway I forced the beer down and it rose straight to my head. When the food came it ended up being very average again. I don't know why you get given the option to choose between rare and medium in restaurants anymore. The art of preparing a medium steak perfectly has completely disappeared from the kitchen's skills sets across the country. Here it is either raw(rare by some) or burnt offerings. I don't think there is still a living chef or cook out there that can make a medium steak medium without blood dripping from the meat. Anyway to send a raw medium back to the kitchen only resulted in me getting a charcoal medium to eat. As I was with someone and had no intention of creating a scene I just gulped it down with hot coffee that was almost okay. So no great applause from me and the flame never became a fire so it was a below par...
Read moreWas not impressed with the food. Trevor the Waitron did hype the 500g t-bone oven roasted steak with peri peri chicken wings. It was a dismal fail, to be honest. And at R310 for the meal, I ate two out of the 10 chicken wings, and when I got home after taking some of the meal as take away, discarded it immediately. 🙃 I'm not one to waste food, but the chicken was terrible. It had 0 flavor and did not seem fresh at all. It was not off, but it was as though it was dead* in a not vibrantly fresh flavourful kind of way and masked in one of the most fake starting and slimy peri peri sauces I've had. Ai, please, if I'm going out to eat, and not cooking st home, at least make sure that the food is fresh and flavourful. I think I know what happened to the chicken based on the taste. It was defrosting, and spent too much time in the defrost water and chicken juices. This takes the taste away, then, I suppose, it was cooked, and then later reheated and not freshly cooked for our meal. The steak we ahd asked for it to be medium to rare, it was well done, but not like, 'well done guys'. 👍🏻 So yeah, please make a plan. This and the beer castle lite was flat... Ai. Trevor was awesome though. We didn't say anything because we just left after being with friends. Hope you guys are better...
Read moreDue to an ignorant attitude towards poor service and a gross lack of reading comprehension from Cappuccinos' feedback, I've updated for clarity.
Had a birthday lunch here with family (6 people). My family was content (not impressed nor happy whatsoever) with their meals.
After going through the menu 4 times and not finding anything appealing, I ordered their regular burger. What I received was such a depressing burger meal though. In terms of taste, it was average, somewhat tasteless, and utterly inferior to rocomama's next door. I needed to flood it with sauce to get any taste from it. The presentation was utterly garbage, honestly. So much so that I'm not inclined to return here whatsoever.
Another issue was the waiter and seating. The seating benches are cramped, so being tall, we found it difficult to sit comfortably. Each and every time, utterly oblivious to their ignorance, or indifference, the waiter would stand on my feet under the table. Every. Single. Time. Seriously??
Do yourself a favour - go to spur, or rocomamas, or anywhere else if you want a burger. For anything else, the risk and loss is yours to make.
Their choices of beer on tap was limited to devils peak and castle light - a dismal selection. They didn't have schweppes lemonade in stock when we...
