I recently (06/12/2024) visited your restaurant in the Irene mall, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The manager on duty (Peter) was blatantly rude and displayed unprofessional behavior, which was both shocking and unacceptable. He was not wearing a name tag and blatantly refused to share his name that was later confirmed by a waiter. He was most definitely not unable to manage his team, and at one point, the staff engaged in a visible argument which which I could only assume was as a result of sheer frustration and his obvious lack of both management and people skills.
He was not sensitive to the fact that we had been waiting for ages to settle our bill and when addressed, he became rude and offensive. He furthermore shouted at the waiters and kitchen staff, who did not deserve to be treated so disrespectfully. He was clearly flustered, given the multitude of complaining clients, Uber Eats personnel waiting to collect orders and staff members fighting amongst each other.
To make matters worse, the food did not meet the standard I had become accustomed to. The food was bland and 3 persons ordered sushi which was served on one plate and not individual plates per person. Surely this is not standard practice? Your sushi used to be the best and it is most definitely not anymore which is quite a shame.
I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and that they endeavor to improve both staff training as well as the quality of their food. Until then, I can unfortunately not recommend Ocean Basket in...
Read moreArrived and was seated at a table with menus. Waited 10mins for someone to come and take our drinks order. I managed to get the attention of another waiter clearing a nearby table. We placed a drinks order and again had to get the attention of the same waiter to place a meal order. Finally drinks arrived with I presume was our waiter for the section that we were seated in. I told him to not open our wine just as yet as I was waiting to speak to the manager. There seemed to be a debate between the manger and the waiter we asked to call the manager. The manager had to go and speak to the senior manager for what reason is still beside me instead of coming directly to us to find out what the problem is. A very timid manger came to our table and was apologetic as per procedure. I told him that this is unacceptable. We were so looking forward to a nice meal but this whole experience left such a bad taste that we decided to leave and go somewhere else where we would get quicker and better service. Might I add this was 4pm on a Saturday afternoon... it was quiet and no one was spinning, more like standing around waiting for customers... or ignoring them! We 4 of us arrive at 20h40 and were seated by our waiter after 5 minutes we called to order drinks waiting 10 minutes we asked how long must we wait for drinks. We then also order food while they see how far the drinks were. They couldn't make the Peach and White wine Spritzers we ordered after 15 min waiting., Also not the chips because they already put the oven off . We were giving rice that was cold think it was all the left overs from the day. Didn't give us any bread rolls because there was none left after a very busy day. My point is there business hours is until 21:30. Why didn't staff just told us when we got there at 20h40 they would be able to help us. Even the food we ordered wasn't to standard and not what we ordered. 3 of us ordered the Premium Calamari Combo one got only calamari heads, one got calamari tubes only.
