Valley Falls Spur — Restaurant in Gauteng

On Sunday the 1st of October we went to Spur Irene,the village mall. It was myself,my husband and our 2 small kids. The service we received was totally appalling. We had to wait for a while for our food,and when the food ultimately came ,the waitress never bothered coming to the table to check if we were ok,and it wasn't full at all nor busy. Another waiter had to clear plates from our table as he was passing by. The food that my daughter couldn't finish remained on the table for over an hour as we waited to be served and for our drinks to be refilled, but no body came. Ultimately we sent someone to call the manager,by the name of Joseph Mokwena ,of which he worsened the situation as it was clear he wasn't capable of dealing nor containing the situation. We told him what had happened and all he could say was "sorry",as if it wasn't a big deal,he also left our table to get someone to refill our drinks &bring the kids ice cream ,which they had been waiting for,for over an hour,the manager also dissapeares n resurfaced after 20 minutes,at this stage this pathetic n disregard had gotten out of hand,I asked him to call his senior,he said he was the senior,when we asked for the bill so we cd settle it n leave we were made to wait yet again. Another guy came who wanted us to explain the same story which we had already explained twice &nothing was done to remedy the situation. At this point we were fed up,paid for the bill and left,with dessert being charged on our bill which we never got a chance to even have. I am appalled and disgusted at the level of incompetence that we experienced at Spur the village mall. To be treated so poorly for a service that we pay for when we could have opted to go to any other restaurant to get the right service.

To have exposed My kids to such a horrible experience is totally saddening and I want these people to know that you cannot treat paying clients with such disrespect and disregard. I will never take my kids to that...

We have become regulars for a while now at Valley Falls Spur Steak Ranch, located within one of our favourite shopping centres, namely Irene Village Mall in Centurion. The family restaurant has a beautiful setting, with good views of the stunning carousel just outside, and a water fountain among several beautiful flower beds. For the arrival of Spring Day 2024, the flower beds were almost covered with colourful poppies in full bloom, among other blossoming plants, rejoicing in the crisp, morning air. Our choice this morning was Spur's Farm-style breakfast with pork sausage / beef wors, two generous cuts of back bacon, and fried mushroom with a grilled slice of tomato togetherwith the mandatory Frenchfries. Our designated Waitron, Ennie, was quick on the draw, bringing us our cappuccino and complimentary cookies while we waited for the real thing. When the breakfast itself arrived after a very short wait, it came on a hand-warming platter, ensuring that our meal remained piping hot for longer. The breakfast met our expectations, and the service was impeccable. We liked that we were asked for our Spur loyalty card, and since it was left behind in the car, Ennie offered to do the needful using our cellphone number linked to the card. Do mind the step adjacent to the wall seats. The in-house bathrooms are exceptionally maintained. The kids' play area and equipment look awesome. Always love the decor in Spur family restaurants. Will not recommend to eat there, service is terrible. Got our orange drinks, was so sweet my mouth started to cramp on first taste. Trying to get waiters responce but everyone chit chat at the counter. She came and i explain the reason to take back to take half away and add water. She brings a glass of lemonade instead. Told her rather bring nilkshake because will get sick how sweet that orange drink is. After about 20min waiting for our food. My dad accidentally spilled his cooldrink over the table, but all the waiters just walk past. Had to go to the counter where they still chit chat and ask for help to clean up. The one guy only gave us like 3 napkins, tried to vlean but walked away leaving everything still wet. Had to clean our selfs with nothing. Took all the napkins ons table that is 2 napkins. Other spurs would have helped. Finally food came after about 40min for 2 people and was bit cold. Asked for a take away eisbein no bbq on. Guess what, the smothered it with bbq sauce, asked where are the mustard that hoes with it. They said oh thats extra. Its never extra. Would rather drive an extra 20min to go to spur castlegate.
